Wilson is an odd study.

He is very talented and intelligent, always reading defenses and avoiding pressure, making huge plays when his team needs it. He just doesnt put up big passing numbers and tends to be ineffective for long stretches during games. Add in the fact that their defense gets all the attention, and you start to see why people arent all in.

I remember his rookie season when they just gave Matt Flynn 10 million $ and my fantasy league all passed on him because they thought he wouldnt start. I drafted him anyway and he had his coming out party before winning a Super Bowl not even 2 years later.

When you are essentially a running back who hands off to a better running back most of the game, you are going to have a good TD:INT ratio. Being backed by a lockdown D takes a shitload of pressure off as well. See Jimmy Mac with the 85 Bears.

He is not bad, but he is not worth the money Seattle is paying him. Unfortunately, they committed to it after they dumped the WR who cucked him in order to keep him happy.

Dilfer is probably the best example you are ever going to find of a game manager who won the SB and even then he had to pass aggressively for the Ravens to win. Wilson is more or less Ravens Dilfer with better running instincts and a superior RB backing him up. The main thing is both guys had top of the league defenses backing them up.

Of course the people who were on the bandwagon of talking about how ridiculous the Patriots fumble stat-line was are defending Russel Roidhawks interception ratio. Surprise surprise!

I'm not even a Seahawks fan nor even a Wilson fan really but I don't know why everyone (here included) tries to make all these reasons why he isn't a really, really good QB. You don't accidentally fall into the super bowl back to back nor have a ludicrous QB rating by just making "college open" passes.

Yes I've watched him play. I don't think you have to define a QB as being in this elite club as making snazzy passes. The fact of the matter is Wilson gets the job done and protects the ball. Even if you want to put some label as "game manager" on him it doesn't detract from the fact that he's the most (at least one of -- I guess I don't know all QB stats) decorated 3rd year QB to play the position. But people will just say it was the defense, it was the run game, it was some other reason other than Wilson.

Russel wilson is an average quarterback. He's not shitty, he's not amazing, and he most certainly can accidently fall into a superbowl when the team around him is good enough. What he can not, and will not do is carry your shitty ass team into the superbowl himself. He isn't worth all the money Seattle paid.

I'll always agree with this statement no matter who you are talking about.

I do think Wilson is better than average though, and until he looses his mobility, he's one of the hardest QB's to defend because you HAVE to assign a dude to cover him on the run. And if you don't, you're gonna have a bad time.

Eli is like a yo yo. Some days (or fuck even halves) he looks like a world class scrub then some times he looks like the best player at the position. He does have ice water in his veins and can seemingly turn himself into a good QB in the playoffs though almost like Flacco.

This is the most often over looked fact about Wilson. You simply are forced to defend the edges against him. QB spying is somewhat old fashioned now instead it is more about containment which means you can't overload the box. If you ask me Lynch is just as much a product of Wilson as Wilson is of the run game. His ability to spread a defense thin means Lynch gets gaping holes. You are not allowed to stack the box against Seattle because they'll just beat you on the edges.

Wilson is a good QB but it's ridiculous for anyone to think what he does is elite. He's a more talented Dilfer,as mentioned, in that offense. Could he do and be more? I'm sure he could but at this point he's just an efficient and very good game manager. I have no problem with what he makes because they have done well so far with it. And there is only about a half dozen elite QBs in the NFL so it's not exactly an easy group to be in.

Edit- Lynch was amazing before Wilson got into college. Let's not under appreciate Beast Mode now.

Which I don't get, Johnny had a good game last week, there's no reason to ride this ride if he can show he can play well. All this does it cause distractions.
