Wilson's put up 457 yards (17th in the league), completing 71.8% of his passes (9th in the league) with 3 TD's and 2 picks against 2 pretty good teams (Rams front 7 on D are no joke). Granted it's only after 2 weeks, so hard to really get a gauge on things, but he's doing a little more than game management. His stats will likely only improve over the next few weeks too.

He was 20th in the league in completion percentage last season. He takes care of the ball and is special when it comes to elusiveness but he's not an elite passer, which is fine on a team like the Seahawks. Might not be as fine now that the o-line is pretty bad and the running game has been ineffective but obviously it's worked great for the last 3 years.

Go back and look just at last years Seahawks stats, 11 times last year their D held teams to 20 points or less...half those times were like 10 points or less. They scored 25 points or less 10 times. Wilson is more game manager than dominant QB, I'm not saying he can't play or is a scrub but he isn't a world beater by any means. He's on the perfect team for his skill set.

I think it really comes down to how you define the position. As a pocket passer no Wilson is far from elite. But he is far and away the best duel threat QB in the league. Hell he was #16 in rush yards last year for all teams. If you are trying to define "Is he an elite QB?" by pocket passers you probably have a lower opinion of him than others. But I think the position is a bit more flexible than that. And since he is a bit more unique of a quarter back you can't really use the "Could he carry any team to the SB?" question as readily because he does need a bit of custom tailoring to really let him shine. But if you tailor the team properly, which Seattle clearly has, he is an invaluable resource and not one that is an easily replaceable cog.

Russel wilson is an average quarterback. He's not shitty, he's not amazing, and he most certainly can accidently fall into a superbowl when the team around him is good enough. What he can not, and will not do is carry your shitty ass team into the superbowl himself. He isn't worth all the money Seattle paid.
I will always ask this when talking about those mid range QB's. Dump Wilson. Who will you pick up? Realistically no one better? Then he is worth the money. Every consistent playoff QB is worth their money. NO QB will bring your shitty team to the SB.

Below are the salaries of the QB's not working off rookie deals. I just cut it off arbitrarily at Brady. As I look at these the only ones IMO not worth the money are:

Kaperbro. Wont make playoffs anytime soon.
Eli Manning. Won't make playoff anytime soon.
Pey Pey. Will make playoff, but we all see that Manning is a shell of himself.

Hypothetically, if they told Wilson to go fuck himself and put Tebow in for $20 and a pack of skittles, they could have kept more of their defense intact. Tebow would do well enough to win on that team.

After Tony Romo's clavicle doesn't heal properly and he has to have surgery forcing him to miss the rest of the season, Matt Cassell will lead the Cowboys over the *Patriots in SB50. So it is written. So it shall be done.

unpossible. Patriots can't win now that they can't cheat anymore.

You've been saying a lot of wrong things the past couple pages, Phazael.
Maybe, maybe not. But I maintain that anyone who can run the ball and hand it off to Lynch would probably score enough points to win games the last couple years there.

All the mediocre QB's are over paid IMO. Just the way the league is right now. At some point they'll realize that over paying for a shit bird QB isn't worth the deficits in other positions. Russell Wilson is certainly on the better end of the middle pack QBs.

I was going to say, the Foles and Bradford contracts look awful. While they're lower dollar amounts, the guaranteed money makes them look horrific. Whereas the one that Brahma pointed out in Kaepernick isn't really bad at all. Yeah, it's a big contract, but the fact that he'll never earn the majority of it makes it palatable.

Wait, a 3 year contract that pays Foles as the 21st highest paid qb is a bad contact?
