The Roidhawks line is bad, though far from the worst. But I think somewhere along the line people figured out that if you maintain outside containment, you shut down both Wilson and Lynch. Those two burned so many teams by letting the bull rush through and squirting to the outside for big runs. So far, every team that has played them seems to have taken the outside zone and QB spy route. The teams with the right talent have beaten them, but the ones without have not, though the lions game is another issue. Frankly, they are lucky to be 2-3 with the way their line is and Wilson is going to get hurt with some of the shots he is taking. Even Big Ben the Rape Ape gets banged up from all the abuse he takes.

Yeah there are some bad O-Lines out there this year. If you look at the undefeated teams, the one thing they have in common is that their lines are actually good (except the Asterisks who are average in this area, but they have not needed it to be good). It makes no sense to shell out money on a QB and then cheap out on the line, but I guess that's how teams play the cap. That and the better lines tend to be developed by the draft. I also think good tight ends help offset a bad line (see Gronk) and there has been a pretty big lack of those out there lately, too.

NFL really needs a development league instead of relying on the NCAA for that. Big reason why we are seeing such terrible line and QB play. The prevalence of the spread offense at the college level is just not producing NFL-ready talent anymore and there aren't enough roster spots to develop any players.

Well I think the issue is that there is nothing resembling a salary cap in the NCAA to spread the talent around and the criteria for a successful season differs from the NFL. In the NFL, you win the damn game, get homefield, and play some defense in playoff time. At the college level, you stack your schedule with ducks and the team that racks up the most ridiculous blowouts gets the playoff berths and there is no home field advantage. The systems favor different things.

Teams are 1-427 in the last five seasons when trailing by 17+ points in the 4th quarter. The Bengals are the one win. Fuck yeah.

Wow, that is a pretty astonishing statistic, and very un-Bengal like.

All I can think of is the Bucs vs. Colts game from 2003.

Colts vs. Buccaneers - Game Recap - October 6, 2003 - ESPN

"Peyton Manning rallied the Colts from a 35-14 deficit with four minutes left in regulation". Should have seen how shocked people were when they went to bed halfway through the fourth quarter and woke up to see the score.

I was at the Colts vs Chiefs playoff game in Indianapolis (in 2014) when the Chiefs were blowing us out before the half (was 31/10 at the half). We were contemplating leaving as it snowed earlier that day and was scheduled to snow more during the night (when the game was going on; we had a 3hr drive home), so we wanted to avoid the stupid traffic as it looked to be a total destruction of the Colts. We decided to stay and it hit 37/10 right at the beginning of the 3rd Quarter. All of a sudden the Colts come back and win the game by 1 point, 44/45. We would've been fucking PISSED if we left early as we had outstanding seats (corporate seats, about 25 seats from the field)

That game pretty much ruined Andy Reid as a coach.

11-5 as Chiefs coach before that game

10-12 since

I agree with this quite a bit. Unfortunately for the important positions it would introduce wear and tear on a body that is already limited in the length of time it can play.

Is there any talk in KC about Reid's job security?
Reid is VERY lucky that the vast majority of sports fans in KC are currently focused on the Royals. Up until last year, any other year in the past 3 decades this would not be the case and the entire town would want his head.

Rios is going to get wrecked tonight. 3 rookies starting in the O-line tonight.... Poor Felipe.

Gates is back, so expect Senor Rios to get rid of the ball early. I hope we don't see Keenan allen fumble more punts.
