Their conditioning coach needs to be dragged into the street and shot.

Of course he's not Ted Ginn, which you backed up brilliantly with your "I watch games" statistic, but 52% catch rate is very low for an elite receiver, most of whom are 60+. Hurns is 59% and Walters is 71% with the same QB. It's certainly partially Bortles, but you can't just throw it all at his feet.

And really it's not even that he has bad hands, I said he "drops" too many passes but that's not really accurate. He just doesn't catch as many as he could/should. Which sounds like semantics but really isn't. He doesn't create the separation he could with better route running so too many passes targeting him are made more difficult than they need to be. He's not really a rocket so he can't just rely on speed for separation. He makes up for it being pretty good battling for the ball and catching high passes. He also hasn't really been great after the catch, again partially Bortles fault, but that something he showed he can do in college and should improve.

I love the kid, I reached a bit for him in fantasy and it paid off well. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with AJ Green making the pro bowl ahead of him this season.
Dear lord, Grimm just used the holy grail of awful internet arguments on receivers. The route running analysis.

Huh??

Touchdowns (Robinson 13 vs Green 8 vs Fitz 7)...... And they both have way better QBs.
True, but Fitz already has 30 more catches in about the same amount of targets (and 99 overall). Green has 8 more catches in 17 less targets, with more yards overall. Green and Fitz (especially Fitz) crush him in YAC as well. I'll grant the TD's, but TD's for WR's fluctuate a lot year to year most of the time.

Holy shit a CB that can run a 4.55 40?? That dude had 6 tackles. Not in an entire season, but in ONLY 3 GAMES.

That Pats defense is LOADED.

Yeah guys the Patriots have not proven they know what they are doing yet. You should listen to a real expert like Jason Garret.

What the fuck kind of world do you live in where TDs take a backseat to things which are not...or are even in the equation. Btw, how come you didnt list yards per catch too where it takes Robinson far less catches to equal the same amount of yards?

TDs are what win games. And yea, other teams with defenses + franchise QBs on playoff teams etc. Robinson is still a little raw, but numbers wise just from touchdowns he is tied for 1st in the NFL and not on the fucking pro bowl as a starter. Its dumb. The fact that Calvin Johnson is just highlights how stupid and meaningless pro bowl designations have become.

Success in the nfl comes from quality cheap depth. It's a big reason why the Pats are good every year. PFF rated Hill as the top undrafted rookie this year. Look at the ages of the Pats secondary. Almost all under 25. That's significant.

Talking shit helps if you aren't totally ignorant about what you are talking about Ambit.

So much wrong with this.

Your link said nothing about him being the top UDFA. It did say this year's CBs (all, not just undrafted) was a pretty weak group and they didn't feel any deserved a 1st round pick. But honestly, post-draft analysis isn't really as important after almost a full season in the NFL.

Ultimately, He's a small and slow CB who the Bengals didn't feel was worth it at the bargain basement UDFA price.

you're right, they're a top 5 defense. good point.
6th, actually.

When Ambit tells you you're wrong, you should just take it as an expert analysis. Trust me, no one on this board has been wrong more than him.

Well, Lleauaric did say Depth. Being buried on a depth chart is pretty good if you ask me.

Over/Under on whether or not he's active this Sunday?

Nobody is looking for him to play this week. He is great pick up that the pats stole from the Bengals as they were slow putting him on the practice squad during the holiday. He is young and has a lot of potential to be a quality player. Malcolm Butler has a pretty similar backstory. I'm not saying he will be a pro bowl player like Butler, but adding more depth at corner and a stronger nickle and dime person is pretty important.

He is in the absolute best place now to develop his talent and play. Maybe some special teams this year with him going in the role Butler had in the 2014 season next year. Logan Ryan is another great example of a young player the Pats have developed and been patient with that is now paying huge dividends. Pats have a db churning machine now

Great pick up no matter how you look at it.

I agree that he is a great pick up. You can't have enough young CBs. If he never develops, what did they lose?

I don't think success comes from quality depth but it is part of the equation.

He's not a terrible pickup, since it's a low risk move. It's the idea that this move will make them an amazing secondary for years to come that's typical of New England fans. He was someone who, at best, was being demoted to practice squad for the Bengals and no other team tried to claim him.

All this really shows is that Bengals practice squad guys would be starters for pretty much every other team.
