I don't know if YOU watched what happened in SF but they chased out a guy who made 3 NFC Championship and one Super Bowl appearance (in 4 years) cause he didn't get along with, among other people, the GM. Whatever is going on with Kaep is all too do with Baalke. My bet is Baalke said Kaep may be here, may be gone and Kelly was like "whatever, I just want an NFL job."

Well Harbaugh also had zero respect for the owner and that's a really good way to get your ass fired, success or no.

I doubt you watched what happened in Philly closely, trust me this has Chips fat fingers all over it. Not saying Baalke isn't a colossal fucking idiot himself, Occam's razor suggest the two are corroborating together.
That's exactly why Chip shouldn't have a a role in this. Looks like an amazing coach, but Browns level personnel decisions.

I'd argue the amazing coach thing. His personnel decisions were directly attributed to his valuing the system over the player to the point where he was unwilling to compromise the system to accommodate the player. This is precisely why Murray was shit last year, Chip tried to fit the player to a system that didn't suit him and instead of adjusting he just kept plugging away.

You want to know why McFadden ended up 4th in rushing yards despite only starting 10 games? Because when it became apparent that he wasn't doing well in zone blocking, they adjusted. DMC had something like 7+ yards per carry when they went man blocking. The Cowboys adjusted the system so they could get the most out of the player. Now I'm not saying Garrett is an amazing coach, but he clearly understands that compromises need to be made in some cases, which is something I don't think Chip is capable of doing.

Elway cracks me up. Treats young QBs as replaceable trash. Was going to be a holdout because Kush might have treated him like trash. Kaep definitely is worth more than $7 mil even with a couple bad years. So is journeyman Fitzpatrick. If you can start games with some success, you are worth a lot as a QB. Just the name of the game. Elway will regret if Butt Fumble is his primary QB this year. Talk about guaranteeing no repeat, he will accomplish it.
Isn't the main issue is the Broncos just simply don't have any money to spend? They can't pay Kaps because their cap doesn't allow it?

Hence the "looks like". It's possible his offense was a gimmick that was figured out by everyone, except Belichick who was too busy playing chess, but I think it was the huge changes he made that really sunk them.

Whenever an above average team or better makes a lot of changes in an offseason, it always seems to backfire.

I know you troll this section but don't even pretend to defend Chip. He's awful and way in over his head in the NFL. Just remember.. Demarco Murray out of the shotgun...

Yeah, they have like $2mil in cap space this year, so they'd need Kaep to sign a restructured long term deal to help spread out the cap hit. And I'm guessing that deal would be for a lot less money than his current contract AND they probably want similar outs like the Niners have in his current contract.

So his choices basically are:
Stay with SF this year and make ~$12mil. If he does great great under Chip Kelly the Niners will probably keep him at near $15-20mil next year. If he does terrible he gets cut but has $12mil in his pocket.

Go to Denver and make ~$7mil this year (if reported numbers are to be believed). If he does great in Kubiak's system he's stuck in Denver for what, maybe $10mil a year? If he does terrible he gets cut but has $7mil in his pocket.

Where did you get that SF cap number? 49ers beat writer on ESPN was saying they had a pretty decent cap situation compared to a lot of other teams. Maybe that was not counting Kaps salary?

As far as Kelly goes Im not that upset about the hire. The 49ers offense was so fucking feckless and inept last year. They needed a different approach on offense, and they got that with Chip.

There's ways to rearrange money. They are paying Butt Fumble almost $5 mill this year. They are paying CJ Anderson $6 mill this year. They are taking a $25 mill hit this year for D. Thomas and Clady. This isn't about not having money so much as being unwilling to work the money around. He has choices and he doesn't want to pay Kaep fair value. It's really that simple.

That's Denver's cap number. Niners have like $50-$60mil in space I think.
Oh ok thats what I thought. I was gonna be like damn how do you have 2 mill in cap space but was one of the worse, least talented teams in the league. For Denver that number makes sense they went all in and won a title.

You forgot to include get injured collect 24M from SF over this year and next. Also forgot to include, get cut after the draft when no one is willing to part with draft picks, go to Denver and have SF pay for his salary, SF gets no draft pick pays his salary and pounds sand.

Kaeperbro walks out into OTA's takes off to start running and tears his achillies, based on the time frame...you are out 12M next year because its guaranteed for injury...ACL/MCL Hamstring tear or pull, hell Miles Austin spent 3 years injured with a hamstring...thats 36 million for Kaeperbro. I can go on and on with injuries that could happen in OTA that would instantly get him 12M. Trade the fucker, eat the cap hit this year and at least get a fucking draft pick....but you have Baalke AND Chip so 49ers will end up pounding sand.

Yeah, all the more reason for Kaep to tell Denver no to a restructured contract. I'm not making a case for the 49ers to keep him. I'm making the argument of why, even though he stated he wants out, Kaep isn't willing to take a 41% pay-cut this year to get out of dodge.

It's pretty clear that unless Denver is willing to throw a boatload of guaranteed money in a restructured deal, Kaep has all the incentive in the world to stay put. Denver doesn't want to do it because the only way they can make it work with their cap situation is to commit to several years of Kaep or dead money if Kaep flames out.

Kaep at this point is does he want to play football or make $$$, the option to do both is with the 49'ers.
