Why is Dallas Thomas still on the Fins, and still a starter. As usual blown up on the only two pass attempts.

It would have been robbery at 5 years 50M. The problem is some other team would have paid him more, QB desperation is strong in the NFL.

That's fucking insane for a single season as a starter. One where he barely cracked 3000 yards.

I can't see clear details in the nfl.com article but it appears only this year (~$9m) is fully guaranteed and the team has the option of not picking up the contract next year (worth $27m). Nothing is there on subsequent years. But it looks like it's a super "prove it" deal that might need him to prove it every year.

Found this at Buffalo News:

The Buffalo News confirmed a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media that, although the Bills agreed to add five years to the one season remaining on Taylor's original contract, they are able to exit the deal after the 2016 if they don't think they have the right man behind center. Otherwise, according to a source close to the negotiations, they would be on the hook for about $40 million in Taylor's first two seasons: $9.5 million this year (more than triple his original salary) and $30.5 million (including incentives) in 2017.

They would just be dicks and franchise tag him.

Huh? Chargers would end up paying him $15 million for 1 year instead of $25 million for 4 years.

I doubt you can franchise tag rookies, though. But if any team's dumb enough to try, outside of the Browns, it's the Chargers

I think he is saying they would just franchise him after he played out his rookie contract, therefore not allowing him to hit free agency.

Oh. Whatever I had read said something about $97 million for I think 5 years. Even if it's only half guaranteed, that'd be a retarded number for what he's done. They may as well pay me that much.

$9.5M for a single season isn't bad at all, especially if they can cut ties immediately.

Agreed. The body of work doesn't match the long term value. The only positive is the out they gave themselves if things fall apart. And they might. It is the Bills after all.

I would think they want a rookie QB to get as much preseason work as he can get

Yea. Sucks he might miss time but they really don't intend to play him anytime soon so it's not a huge deal. Would have been nice for him to get all the preseason games in. He looked ok the other night. Made some good throws and some really bad ones. Our WRs need to step it the fuck up tho.
