Read an article earlier but haven't found it again yet, but I guess Bosa's father played and also held out(pretty sure he eventually caved) but dumb definitely runs in the family.

Well, he just turned 21 so he is still pretty young. I just can't believe the Chargers are being that cheap. Do they really have no faith that he is going to be successful, and they are going to cut him after a couple years?

Holding out when you are a proven player is one thing. Holding out as an unproven rookie is fucktarded.

Oh I agree, but the Chargers are also being pretty fucking petty about the money as well.

And really let's pretend he sits out this year, and goes back into the draft next year. Do you think he won't still be a top 10 pick? I would assume he would, but who knows I guess.

Pats trade Stork to Skins for a conditional 7th. I mean...it's basically for nothing at a position we obviously don't like all our options at, but the reason they're letting him go is they're worried he'll get another concussion if he takes a turn too fast in his car.

He also loves getting personal foul penalties and fighting teammates at practice.

When do you decide to post as Malakriss or Merrith?

No it's the bonus. They are fucking him over because they want to keep interest earned on half his bonus. That's it. The Chargers are Fucking retarded and this is probably the cherry on their not getting a stadium cherry.

Bosa sorta reminds me of the white guy on Ballers right now to be honest. It's hard to side against him though, given what cunts the Chargers are.

I expect him to cave at the last minute because sitting out would be stupid. I also expect him to pretty much always hold it against the team.

He is a meathead. I would think so but he seems content to sit on his ass until May to see named called again.

And just set however many millions he would be owed on his first year on fire...

Chargers have had this issue with something like 60% of their first round picks. The organization cares more about making interest than football. Makes me want to say fuck this team and cheer for the Rams again or something like when I grew up in LA county before those faggots left.

John Spanos unloads on Joey Bosa’s bargaining position

“I’m blown away,” Spanos said. “At all costs I wanted to avoid going down this road. They made it overly clear we had no other option. . . . It’s absolutely asinine. He would have gotten more cash in this calendar year than anyone except Carson Wentz.”

Spanos contends that, over the next four months, Bosa would have received $14.5 million under the team’s latest offer.

Both sides are obviously telling different stories but if that quote is remotely true he is a fucking idiot.

The hilarious part of all this is Bosa has very little leverage. If he chooses to cut ties and re-enter the draft next year, he's going to lose millions as he won't be drafted again at #3 (unless its by the Cowboys of course). He'll likely lose 10-20 draft spots assuming he remains in-shape. Most teams probably won't even want to touch him due to all that has occurred as they, like the Chargers, don't want to set a precedent for future draft picks and veterans in terms of contracts.

Both sides fucked up, but I lean towards agreeing with the Chargers at this point. People seem to be constantly comparing previous contracts of #3 picks, but the Jags have basically had those picks and the Jags as an organization are not one to follow. Other picks (even #1 and #2) have had offsetting language or deferments over the last few years.

Goff: deferred bonus, no offset language.
Wentz: deferred bonus, offset language.
Ezekiel: deferred bonus, offset language.
Ramsey: deferred bonus, no offset language.

Hope Bosa is ready to get fucked by his own (and his agency/family's) idiotic decisions. Would love for him to fall to the 2nd round next year just to watch the media headlines.

I know it's a different era, but Bo Jackson went from overall #1 to the Bucs, to #186 (7th round) in the following year. And I'd say he was a substantially better player. Oh, and his reasoning for not signing was a hell of a lot better.

If I were a GM, I wouldn't use a 1st or 2nd day pick on him.

This is what people not following this don't understand. He has not asked for anything that most other top 5 pics routinely get from other teams. He wanted no offset language or he wanted his bonus up front. The more money bit is misleading because he was offered like a 10% bump over the split bonus and the Chargers refused to give no offset language. Most people accept the split bonus in return for the no offset language. So he is not asking for anything out of the ordinary and if this was an isolated incident I would absolutely blame Bosa but its a constant issue with the Chargers. They want that interest on the split bonus but refuse to give the off set language to get it.

The Joey Bosa situation is part of a decades-old pattern for the Chargers

So we're clear, Joey Bosa is asking for something 75% of all players drafted within ±2 picks of Bosa's draft position since 2012 have received.

It should also be noted the Chargers had no 1st round draft picks from 1994-2000, excepting 1998.

In summary, 17 of 28 1st round picks involved in a contract dispute (about 61%) which resulted in time missed from training camp.

All this being said Bosa has no leverage and should cave.

Like I said, both sides shit the bed badly and deserve a shitload of criticism. But as of late, atleast the Chargers are trying to make some compromises (even though they may have started this shit-show from the beginning). Both Ezekiel and Wentz have offsets and deferments. One being a QB which is arguably a much more impactful position.

He needs to cave and get his multi-millions. He'll still be making more money than most veteran players that have actually taken a snap in the NFL.

Yeah just let the owners bend you over some more. Cave or lose millions. Seems an easy decision for Bosa so not sure why he hasn't.

We're related, this was known back on fohguild.org days. I only venture into sports threads to laugh at people who don't know.
