NFL 2016 - <whatever Tony is doing>

Everyone enjoys the different style runners differently I'm sure, I love me a bruiser but I'm a sucker for someone like Tomlinson and currently enjoying Zeke and his speed. What we really don't see much of these days is the escape artist things like Barry used to do, man was fun to watch.

Emmitt reminds me of the argument I had with a Saints friend back when Graham was on the Saints. He said Graham was better than Witten and I argued that Witten will never be as good in any one year as Graham but Graham will fade his brief greatness won't outpace Wittens consistently good seasons.

Emmitt wasn't the best at anything except showing up weekly and putting up solid numbers and was aided by a great line. Emmitt wasn't the fastest but ask the Giants about his speed when the first carry of the season went 80 and a TD. He didn't get tackled for a loss often, he always kept his feet moving and knew how to fall forward for extra yards. Also the man was a tough son of a bitch who carried the Cowboys on one shoulder to a win over the Giants to secure a first round bye. He didn't have Browns bruising style, Walters smoothness, Barry's escape artist ability or the speed of Tomlinson he just had enough of each to kick all their asses where it matters the most, the record books.

The Cowboys media does really good in the off-season with the draft, if you don't watch I suggest all Cowboys fans to watch them. They get Dane Brugler from CBS Sports to join all the time, he lives in the area he pimps his draft book and he and Broaddus a former scout are really informative. Broaddus shit all over Wentz and argued with Brugler all the time, Brugler never disputed the problems just suggested they could be fixed. Reading that story makes it sound like he is resisting the adjustments, good for us.

Speaking of RBs, I know a lot of people here disagree but with Frank Gore now 8th all time in rushing yards and likely to reach at least 7th, he's gotta be a HoF'er.

When Bruce retired after the 2009 season, this is where he ranked in NFL history in important receiving categories:

Receiving yards: SECOND to Jerry Rice with 15,208. (And even though he hasn’t played since 2009, Bruce still ranks fourth in all-time receiving yards.

Receptions: FIFTH, with 1,024 catches. (And he’s still in the top 10, at No. 9.)

Touchdowns: NINTH with 91. (Bruce still ranks 12th.)

Bruce was also a terrific postseason performer, with 44 receptions for 759 yards — an average of 17.2 yards per catch — and four touchdowns in nine games including the dazzler that won a Super Bowl.

Given how tough it is for WR's to get in, it's not too surprising he is slightly overlooked.

Also frankly any WR crying about not getting in is bullshit until TO gets in.

As far as RB's go, I think we're sleeping on how good David Johnson could turn out to be. Cards just line him up as a wideout at times and he's a match up nightmare. He needs to do it for a longer period, sure, but his ability as a pass catcher in addition to his running is pretty rare.

Zeke's pass catching is underrated, not so much for how much of a pass catcher he is, but his ability using his speed to turn screens or check downs to him into BIG plays.

Man Isaac played on the fucking Rams, and yeah, outside of a couple years of amazing teams they were complete dogshit and he still performed at an all pro level every year. He was like the only bright light for so many god damn years.

Well they can't really be "the fucking Rams" and "the greatest Show on Turf". Honestly though Bruce's numbers are mainly due to longevity more than anything else. He only topped 100 catches once in his career, same season that was the only one he broke 1500 yards receiving as well. His main attribute was his consistency (which he should get a lot of credit for) and his durability. I just think by the time it would really be his turn in line to get recognized (again, with how slow it is for WR's to get in), his numbers are going to keep falling in the career rankings as other guys in the modern game pass him by. He has an outside shot to get in, but the longer it goes the tougher it might be.

The Greatest Show of Turf lasted a few years before Kurt was shipped out and we ended up with Bulger and a shit franchise again. Bruce was a top receiver with fucking Tony Banks throwing him the ball.

Trust me, the Rams outside those magical few years were JUST as shit as they are now, probably worse.

He played most of his career with a complete garbage team and shit offense and still produced. He was an AMAZING route runner.

I don't disagree, I just look at how long it took some WR's to get in and the guys that still need to go in before him and wonder when/if he'll make it.

WR seem to always get shit on for the HoF. TO not in and it took Monk like 32189312 years to get in and he was 2nd or 3rd in basically everything when he retired.

AP is a great runner, but the position is much more than that. 1 dimensional and always has been

Bell averages 15 ypg less on the ground, but is 50 yards away from passing AP in receiving yards for his career while playing 6 less years...... If Bell continues on this trajectory he will be a 1st ballot HoF running back. How many running backs can you name that can lineup at wide receiver and beat NFL caliber corners running routes consistently?? He is special, and is the new mold of what the running back position has evolved into. The two are completely different backs who beat you in different ways.

So the not even close shit? Get outta here with that. You mentioned Ladanian Tomlinson...who for his career averaged 80.5 ypg on the ground and 28 receiving ypg. Bell is at 81.7 ypg on the ground and 43 ypg receiving.

Bells career is still young, but he is putting up numbers that will land him him in the HoF if he keeps this pace.

Yards per game for their career: AP 104.2. Bell: 124.7
