They set 6 weeks as the minimum time table, which is game 5. He'll be throwing in a couple of weeks since that won't aggravate the injury. If Dak is doing good, I see them possibly letting Romo heal until after the bye week. So figure anywhere from 4-6 games Dak will be under center. Burnem's predication covers that at the very least.

I really think Romo should retire for his sake but I don't expect him too.

Could we just ban both Burnem and Convo now rather than leaving it in the hands of whatever bet nonsense they are talking about?

Romo should retire. It should be the Dak era from here on out. If Dak plays well I say stick with him and let Romo's fragile ass ride the bench. If Dak is going to be good at all he should be able to be at least decent behind Dallas's O-line.

If Peypey can play a couple more years with a broken neck, and Romo's injuries aren't nearly as bad as that one, Romo can squeeze out another year or two. We'll say this year and next. Let Dak take over in his 3rd year as Romo gets to enjoy what's left of his 30s.

Results may vary, but they were at least overpaying for guys who have had success (if not quite the level most of us would equate with the value of their contracts) in the NFL already, and not pinning hopes on a rookie who hasn't played a down of regular season football yet. So while I agree they tossed out too much money, I think the chances of getting SOME return on that money is better than a mid round rookie QB playing lights out his first real NFL game.

Remember how that philosophy worked out for the redskins? Why do you think it'll be different for the giants?

Let's get the cowboy fans on record. Who is thinking Dak is the next Russel Wilson going into the season? Or just your prediction on him. What is your prediction for the Cowboys this season?

I have no prediction, I have only hope. The only thing the pre-season has told us is that he's not a complete bum. I'm not even convinced he's an upgrade over Kellen Moore, but I have to trust the coaches on that one. One thing going in his favor is that defensive coordinators don't have much film on him to study. They'll start out throwing all kinds of shit at him and trying to confuse him. We'll just have to see how he handles that.

Romo has had at least 3 major back injuries. I'm no Cowboy fan but shit, that dude needs to call it a career before he's in a wheelchair at 45.

Define major. He had a transverse process fracture which is basically those useless bone nubs jutting out from your vertebrae. He sat out one week on that. He had a couple of cysts removed which is shit even normal people have to deal with. And now this one, which is unrelated to the other two issues and will not impact his career according to doctors. Major to me implies he was laid up in traction and had to be flat on his back for weeks just to allow him to heal enough to walk without furthering the damage. This last one doesn't even need surgery.

Well I know our contributions aren't as significant as yours in this thread but I'll try and work on that!

Injury history said:
2016 NFL Back Romo fractured a vertebra in the 3rd preseason game.
2015 NFL Upperarm Romo was sacked hard and fractured his collarbone on his non-throwing shoulder. He was placed on IR/Return and returned in week 10
2014 NFL Back Romo fractured the transverse process in his back in 2 places on Monday Night Football in week 8. He missed the following week but returned in week 10
2013 NFL back In week 16 Romo spun free from the pocket in the fourth quarter Sunday and herniated the disc in his back. The injury was season ending (he somehow managed to complete the game) and he needed surgery to repair the disc
2011 NFL Hand Romo suffered a severely bruised hand and left the game
2010 NFL Shoulder Tony Romo sprained his shoulder and missed the remaining 10 games of the season
2008 NFL Hand Sprained finger on his right hand and missed the next 2 games this season.

Ok, maybe not traction level major but the herniated disc and fractured vertebra aren't exactly hangnails. His entire game is sliding around and potentially getting leveled. I have to imagine he's going to see diminishing returns on mobility which leaves him with more potential of re-injury.

Not to mention the broken collarbone. That's pretty important too.

Someone on espn said that by week 6, Dak will be doing so well that the cowboys will decide to trade romo to the broncos. That's the kind of homerism I expect from all cowboys fan's, but you guys are slackin'.

Denver should have traded the Eagles for Sammy Sleeves. They still have a great D, he would have been an upgrade to anything they can put out there this year. Probably cost them a 2nd SB run.
