So looks like Green Bay has the NFC North locked up.

I'm liking the Redskins' schedule chances more and more.

Steelers have suspensions to start the season.
Cowboys are without Romo.
Vikings now without Bridgewater.

Really, the only teams that scare me are the Packers, Cardinals, and Bengals.
Yeah things are lining up for a Redskins first round playoff exit.

As if the 49ers weren't already incredibly thin at WR, Ellington just got put on IR for a hamstring tear. Not sure I recall anyone ever going on IR for a hamstring tear, so I am just assuming the 49ers are writing Ellington off at this point.

Trying to figure out how a non-contact injury could be so bad, but it sounds like Bridgewater's injury may be career ending.

Have non of you seen the Lousville college hoop player snap his leg on a non contact jump shot? Or the guy from the olympics who destroyed his leg on the vault? What is hard to imagine or figure out?

Too much stress in the wrong part at the wrong time... The human body is pretty resilient, especially as young as Bridgewater is, but everything has a limit. The problem here depends on the severity of what occurred. There's some things the body can never come back from, especially when it comes to football.

Oh this is fantastic. Talking heads already talking about the Vikings trading for Kaepernick. Oh please let it be so!

Yup, that Kevin Ware injury was gruesome as hell, especially for a college player that doesn't have a few million to fall back on.

I hate to have anything in the way of our (nearly yearly) pre-Super Bowl loss in the playoffs, but I admit Bridgewater is a bummer - Zimmer frankly seems awesome, they had a nice rebuild going, and I hate to see AP's swan song be with some replacement-level mess. Especially if the injury is bad enough that it derails next season too.

Something like that would indicate a compound fracture or some other freakish injury that I have no idea about or have heard happen before. There are lots of things coming out that seem to indicate a potential career-ending injury (for example, one media outlet said his leg and knee were basically flailing around meaning complete separation/dislocation which could mean his whole knee structure is gone along with nerve and vascular damage) or a very long-term recovery. I'm trying to remain optimistic that it's an ACL tear, but the media is making it hard to believe it's something that simple. I haven't seen this much media attention about a standard tear (either ACL, or MCL, or both) of a player before, so this is a very strange situation.

Statement from Vikings:

"Teddy Bridgewater suffered a non-contact injury today at practice. The injury was quickly identified as a dislocated knee. The injury was stabilized, and he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. After undergoing an MRI, it was determined that Teddy suffered a complete tear to his ACL and other structural damage. Fortunately, there appears to be no nerve or arterial damage. Surgical repair will be scheduled within the next few days. Although the recovery time will be significant, we expect Teddy to make a full recovery. I would like to thank all of the medical professionals and our athletic training staff for all of their help today. Teddy has already displayed the attitude needed to overcome this injury and attack his rehab."

Good to hear it sounds like he can recover from it.

No nerve or arterial damage is key. If this was a full knee dislocation though (not be mistaken with kneecap dislocation), than it is basically multiple tears of ligaments. Would be curious if they said "knee dislocation" to also encompass the tearing of the MCL, LCL, and PCL as from what I'm told is common to occur with knee dislocations.

Remember how that philosophy worked out for the redskins? Why do you think it'll be different for the giants?

I have no prediction, I have only hope. The only thing the pre-season has told us is that he's not a complete bum. I'm not even convinced he's an upgrade over Kellen Moore, but I have to trust the coaches on that one. One thing going in his favor is that defensive coordinators don't have much film on him to study. They'll start out throwing all kinds of shit at him and trying to confuse him. We'll just have to see how he handles that.

The Redskins were doing it for legit stars...but who were past their prime. The Giants are simply giving too much money by a little bit to guys who aren't old stalwarts, but players who will be in the league for awhile. They simply are giving them about a pay grade or two above where they probably should have been (although this is a premium that all teams have to pay sometimes to lure free agents they really want or if their GM is on the hot seat and needs to find a solution for certain problems). The situations aren't that similar.

Yep. That hurts. Been there. Which is why I had a hunch. He will be back next year.

So do we have a consensus on what a cutler rating means around here?
I think the fun of the Catler rating is that it could be good,it could be bad. Little from column a little from column b.
