I'll echo you in response to your own commentary. Wut?

Romo brought that team out of the dark times. For a while there post-Aikman it was a who's who of retreads, has beens, coulda beens, and never was's. Romo was the QB who finally gave them a legitimate chance to win in a league where more often than not your chances revolve around how your QB plays and what he is capable of. But you still need a team to win. If your only reservation about Romo is "how will he throw the game this time" then you, sir, are the worst sort of Dallas fan. One who does not appreciate what Romo is and has done for the team, and one who is ready to move on at the mere hint of a potential successor capable of continuing the consistently good QB play that he started.

In short, fuck off.

I'm fully prepared for him to be out of the league within the next year. Sucks because he is such a phenomenal player and is an anchor for the defense, but he lacks any semblance of discipline. If these were the James Harrison years and nobody gave a shit about player safety at all it would be different, but you can't do this shit today. And even if Burfict starts playing 100% by the book from here on out it won't matter. He's now under a microscope and any tackle that could be interpreted as dirty in any way, shape, or form will be considered so.

No, I just meant what I posted. I viewed Romo as a stop-gap because I didn't see him being a quarterback that could take them to the superbowl.

Unfortunately, they paid him almost as much as superbowl-winning QB Joe Flacco, which I didn't understand.

Yes, Romo was better than what they had after Troy, but I wasn't looking for a QB that could beat average teams, I wanted a QB that could get Dallas to the superbowl.

Lots of people brought out the anointing oil like Parcells warned about, but that wasn't me. If I'm wrong and Romo comes back and beats Brady in the superbowl it will be great and I'll be happy that I was wrong.

I cannot stand the Cowboys and don't really care about Romo but if you think he wouldn't be destroying teams with the way they have been playing right now you are kidding yourself.

Fun fact, Brady has had some consistently good teams around him his entire career. That is just a well coached and put together team and there is no shame in admitting that as a fan of football. There's a reason they have had a winning record every year since the turn of the century. Draft well, target holes in free agency but don't break the bank, try to be one step ahead of a player's production falling off and trade or release (better to do so too soon than too late), and preach a consistent message and attitude through coaching. And personally, I think the success Cassell had in 2008, and the way Garapolo was playing before he got injured is testament to how well that team is coached year in and year out.

Anyway, Tony hasn't had that. Not until recently. When he did he only responded by going out and having his best year as a QB. Gee, being a good to great QB on a team where you don't have to do it all must somehow correlate to success. Go figure.

Moon, this feels like you were praising the Patriots just so you could raise Romo's standing vs. Brady by comparison by claiming Brady has always had much better teams around him. This, just isn't the case, although I agree completely they are a fantastically coached team. Half the time they're taking castoffs from other teams to fill holes at RB. In the early years, Brady didn't have nearly the talent catching balls from him that he has had more recently in his career...and he won 3 SB's back then.

I'll agree Romo hasn't always had the best teams around him, but he has played with one future Hall of Famer in Witten, and had TO (who will also get in) for 3 years.

Haven't heard anyone state it's all Dak. I certainly am not. It's a LOT easier for him behind that O line and with Zeke doing what he's been doing (also as noted, your D has played pretty well last couple weeks). But Dak IS doing some things on his own that are contributing. If you think you put the carousel of backups you had playing last year in for him and you're 5-1, you're nuts.

Again, not all Dak, probably not even mostly Dak. But he's contributing, he's not just doing nothing handing the ball off every play.
