Kinda strange to have had everything go the Skins way this week after laying that egg last Monday night. They better come out and play well against the Giants, whether NY plays their starters or not. I'd really like to go into the Sunday night game next week just having to hope for no tie.

Also: I call this the Kirk Cousins 25 Million Dollar Game©

As in depending on whether he shits the bed or lights em up that's about how much the delta is in per year + guarantee money he is playing for (whichever team that may be).

Washington will pay up. They kind of have to, not like they have another option waiting in the wings. I also believe they have the cap space for it.

Are the games harder than divisional games, yes they are, playoffs mean more, this is not to say dallas will crumble, but, if -IF- they play a team that has the right defensive alignment setup, they will have a really hard time winning the game.

perfect example is the CHIEFS.. the past several years under andy reid, the chiefs have been an excellent team during the REGULAR season. playoffs, not so much.

be it game planning, time management, etc, the chiefs have sucked in the playoffs. since 2010 the chiefs have been in the playoffs 3 times...played 4 games, won one, in 2015 they beat the texans in the wildcard game.

The Giants are really the only team currently in the playoffs that has managed to curtail the Dallas offense. They would have to (currently) beat Green Bay in Green Bay in order to get a rematch. No guarantee that, with Rodgers somehow of the mind to save McFatty's job for another year.

Calling it now:

Will McClay gets GM position in Buffalo after Jerry Jones convinces him that the Pegulas will give him free reign. He'll hire Scott Linehan as HC to take over what is already a decent offensive unit, QB notwithstanding. He and McClay will trade for Romo in a deal friendly to both teams, maybe a 2017 second, 2018 third that's conditional to a 1st if they make Super Bowl or something in that time frame. Matt Eberflus (Dallas LB coach) will get hired as DC.

I think they can get 2 years out of Romo, and he can help them find or groom a replacement. They have a good run game up here, so he helps fix the passing game and puts them in a position to win through offense. Eberflus can help fix the defense by simplifying everything in the same way that Marinelli has in Dallas.

Doug Whaley isnt going anywhere. Russ brandon has wrangled his way to President of the Sabres and Bills. Whaley is his boy. Plus I think terry Pegula lets Whaley bang his wife and watches. No way we see a new GM.

Bills, if they dont get Coughlin which is laughable, are going to hire Greg Schiano or some shit retread like they always do. Or they get turned down by every Coordinator worth a damn and end up hiring a first time coach that wouldnt have gotten the job anywhere else. Pick a shit team, pick their shittier Coordinator, and thats the Bills next coach.

Both chips went through Lambeau. We can do it again.

I think Whaley's gone. He's as tied to the recent lack of success as anyone else and despite some "hits" (McCoy trade, signing Incognito), his "misses" speak loudly (EJ Manuel, trade for Watkins, the Fred Jackson situation, somehow believing Tyrod is an NFL QB). Whaley sticks around and the fans are going to revolt. I hear it nearly every morning about this guy and public pressure, more than anything, will force the Pegulas' hands.

It took Pegula a year too long to admit defeat and fire Darcy Regier. I hope you are right but I can see him being sold on a new coach only.

keep in mind, HE hired Ryan. Whaley didnt. And they fought from day one. And now Rex is gone. Whaley won the fight. I can see them letting him "Bring in his own guy". or be sold on bringing in a guy like COughlin that Whaley has more in common with.

Either way, Whaley ran Marrone out of town, and got Rex Fired. He has a horse shoe up his ass.

He fails, cant win, and has had a toxic office with 2 coaches.

Im telling you, BBD 4 Kim Pegula.

I actually think KP will be the one to pull that trigger. Even Jerry Jones has respect for her, and that's saying a lot.

WTF bro? Normally you're pretty reasonable but this is... I don't know what this comment is. So being 13-2 and beating 3 current playoff teams (Lions, Packers, Steelers) isn't proving they can win big games? Their two losses being by a grand total of 4 pts is somehow not good enough to say, "Maybe they can hang." 7 of their wins being against teams with a (current) winning record doesn't mean anything at all?

Winning is hard in the NFL. Not every game is a gimme, just ask San Diego. To pull off 13 wins with a rookie QB, have locked up the #1 seed before they even took the field last night, that's some impressive shit no matter how you look at it.

#1, I wrote that before the win last night. As far as being reasonable...their previous 3 games (Minnesota, Giants, Tampa) were not all that impressive. They squeaked out the win against the Vikings, got held down by the Giants, and blew a 2 score lead against Tampa before managing to get the win. Only one of those 3 games were against a playoff team, and they lost it. Comparing Green Bay back when they played them to Green Bay now is not the same thing at all. The Steelers game could have gone either way, and Steelers have their flaws as well.

Even the game last night, the defense looked suspect as shit the entire 1st half. Wasn't until Detroit decided to mostly abandon the run and Stafford had a couple of turnovers that the game felt secure at all. I still think your D is vulnerable to a team that can score. If you end up having to play a hot Green Bay team, I don't think you can look to your previous match up and think it's going to go the same way at all. Atlanta might be the same type of problem.

Of course all of those things you listed mean something...in the regular season. We've seen plenty of rookies look great all season but in the playoffs it can be one big mistake that blows it. Until they pass that test there are always going to be questions. My main comment was based on the previous 3 games before last night's, and it's valid as fuck when looking at those. Also still think the D look shaky as fuck in the first half, and shutting them out in the 2nd half felt more about what the Lions didn't do (or did with turnovers). I fully expect Green Bay to beat Detroit next week and the Lions to end up on the outside looking in for the playoffs. Sucks for them they had a tough as fuck schedule down the stretch but it is what it is.

Agree with this. We do have the cap space, although I'm sure we'd like to use as little of it as possible for other contracts that come up this year (Baker, Garcon, Jackson) and next (Breeland, etc). But we don't have another option. Already read a few times that if we don't work out a long term deal we'll use the tag again, which will make his salary north of $24M next year I believe.

NFL Gear commercial comes on, same motif as the rest of the year. Tony Romo says "I had to throw for yada yada yada and yada to earn this NFL Gear, do you know what this kid had to do to earn his?" and I lol'd pretty hard as the camera cut over because I imagined it cutting to Dak Prescott.

I have not seen Tony's comemrcial, but that sounds awesome.

Someone, please, meme it so.

I think that was actually due to halftime adjustments that the cowboys made. If you watched the postgame analysis, they talked about how in the second half the cowboys went to a 3 man line and started giving looks that stafford never figured out.

Gruden mentioned it so he could have something to talk about. It wasn't any new look that made Stafford have a stroke and decide that throwing back across his body while scrambling to his left on 2nd and 31 was a good idea. No idea why they abandoned the run so hard either. Aside from their run game usually being shit, but they were 21-21 with backup RB going off and a couple practice squad guys in their secondary at half time. It's pretty amazing that Stafford has been getting it done like he has with the lack of real weapons and their D as banged up as it is.

I saw the cowboys suddenly start stuffing the run in the second half. That put them into long yardage must pass situations. Then they got behind and even first downs became passing downs. That happens all the time in the NFL. The key is to get them behind the 8-ball ASAP.

Being serious here: playing 8 home games in Buffalo, at NE, and at NYJ, sounds terrible for Romo.

Yup. Buffalo is a terrible choice for Tony Romo. He doesn't have the time for a roster reload to compete with NE, to say nothing about how Miami has improved, and how the Jets could be competitive if they retooled.

I'm going to assume Romo will prefer not to play against his old team, so he'll go AFC. Romo's 2 best AFC choices are Denver and Houston. AFC West is tough, but Denver has the defense to contend with a good QB. AFC South is garbage and he should win it handily if he went to Houston.

Going to Buffalo means NE will probably win the division anyway, and now there's 2 wildcard spots for Buffalo, Miami, Pittsburgh, Cinci, Baltimore, KC, Denver, Oakland, Indy, Tennessee, and Houston. Take 3 of those out as division winners and you are still fighting against 7 other teams.

Stafford lets his baseball experience show too much when he's under pressure (if that makes sense). starts trying to pull off throws that look more like someone trying to get a double play than someone throwing a football pass.
