Have to assume that scout that pushed for McD over Kelce is fired by now.
Pretty much everyone in the 49ers front office from when he was drafted is gone now. Pretty sure Baalke made the call on him though.

Pretty sure he had the highest drop rate among tight ends over the last 2 years or something like that. Maybe he can flourish for you guys somehow. He undoubtedly has some physical gifts, just couldn't ever put it together in SF.

Oh, and the TE that was picked after him?

It was something insane a couple years ago, like 16% from what I read on a Steelers forum, but apparently last year it was less than half that. Having an actual good QB who is accurate will help that as well. Even if he doesnt do anything the Steelers really didnt lose anything.

I think the drops were more on the San Fran receivers than the QB's. As that weird article comparing Kaep and Flacco noted:

While Flacco lost a reception to receiver error once every 17 attempts, Kaepernick lost one once every 8.49 attempts. Nobody in the league lost completions on accurate passes because of receiver error as often as the San Francisco 49ers quarterback did.

Not saying McDonald was only reason for that stat. But it's a good bet he was part of it.

Yup, totally agree. I think there are probably a handful of 49ers players that weren't as bad as perceived, but since the entire team was shit it was hard for them to really show much, especially receivers.

I mean the trade essentially was the 49ers giving up their 5th to move up to the Steelers 4th. And since the Steelers are going to be much better than the 49ers, it may not even be much of a jump up.

Hopefully he works out for you guys.

Apologies if this was posted earlier in the thread- glanced through the last few pages and didn't see anything:

NFL Sunday ticket the only viable option for watching games online? Really want to stream games due to fantasy stuff but fuck paying almost $400

Maybe AJ can finally start tearing the Browns apart. That guy always had AJ's number.

Vance McDonald was third in receiving yards on the 49ers last year, not that that's saying that much. I actually liked him, he is fast and flashy when he doesn't drop the ball.

Finishing behind the likes of Jeremy Kerley and Quinton Patten...while beating out Garret Celek, the ghost of Torrey Smith, and Shaun Draughn. Man the Niners' roster was bad last year.

3 year $27 million deal from the Steelers for a guy cut from the Browns. Bengals fans must love this.

I'm sure in some room the Cleveland front office is thinking they made the right move. Weird as fuck, though.

Steelers dont need him to be an all-star, and I think they know their pressure up front will help him. Plus, Williams plays lots of man behind all-out blitzes (Williams blitzed more than any other DC in recent years) where Haden at this point in his career should excel in a zone defense like ours where he can play off. Unless its against New England, but at this point thats kind of a given we will get fucked with this scheme vs them anyways.

I mean this guy has held AJ in check hasn't he? I realize he fell off, haven't watched many Browns games tbh.
