MIND GAMES everyone was saying,,,pats going 19-0, best ever,,,,so they go out and lose the first game on purpose...... AS IF!!!!

seriously though, offense played ok, i question the game plan a bit, to me at least, were forcing the ball deep too often, more screens, more dumps to the running backs imo should have happened,

Defense, however, once hightower went out, played like a limp noodle(with a few exceptions). too porous, poor tacking, poor gap control, poor coverage on the backs, need i go on...they'll get better(hopefully)

Anyone who drafted Hunt and DIDNT start him shouldnt be playing fantasy.

Ware got hurt, Reid has the most success running the ball in the NFL, and he was a monster at Toledo. NE wasnnt great at stopping pass catching RBs last year. The writing was on the wall. No one expected THIS though.

I almost sat him for Tyreek Hill, as I have Bell and Zeke at my RB1 and RB2. Looked like the wrong move until the middle of the third. Loved waking up to 50+ though.

I mentioned a board or two ago that one of the people I work with, Rob Ninkovich is his nephew. The past few years, Rob has been contemplating retirement more towards warding off future medical issues than anything else. After Rob retired this pass summer, one thing he told his uncle that while New England was alright at defense, this year's roster is atrocious. Initially the uncle and I interpreted his comments as "I am not there so they are going to suck!"

I did not see last night's game. Was New England that bad or is Kansas City owning their number?

Almost better than the results of the game are going back and reading all the gloating posts by pats fans from the start of the game.

Good job Kansas City Gravies!

BIT OF BOTH?

Offensively, Pats did fine, DEFENSIVELY..it is a bit of both...good KC team, with a "New" pats defense. with hightower in, the defense played "average" imo..with him out, and he was the play caller on defense, it went downhill badly/Fast..broken coverages, poor tackling, etc. last year at the beginning of the year, they gave up deep passes/long plays.. .last night was...deep passes and Long plays that killed them.

now if in ~4 more games this is still happening, i'll worry a lot more than i am currently, but since it is week 1, and there are several new players on D,,,i'll wait and see.

Anyone writing off the pats should die, and im a bills fan. this shit happens all the time.

Brady had a bad day, defense was shaky at best. The chiefs were firing on all cylinders and that will be their best game of the year. Next week the Pats will shit struggle, then go on a 6 game streak where they just shit hammer everyone.

I'm not sure that the offense was that fine. 16-36 is pretty atrocious and their YPC was poor.

Like I mentioned during the game, Brady absolutely looked off. A whole bunch of his throws really weren't even close, and it was very un-Brady like. I am fine with chalking it up to the first game, cause this is Brady after all.

Doesn't Reid have some crazy win percentage after a bye? Not sure why that wouldn't apply to season openers too.

Otherwise, Pats still have no pass rush and little depth outside of corner. Brady looking rattled ain't a good sign though..

That said, no one is better at maximizing their roster than the Patriots, so until they hit 6 losses, I'm not even reconsidering.

I didn't hear about it until today but I guess Maurice Jones-Drew had predicted that the Chiefs would win this game on NFL Network and said that the Chiefs had the advantage on the coaching side of the equation for this game. That got him the expected shitstorm from pats fans and basically everyone else but he stood by it and damn if he doesn't look like a genius now.

Because that's an easy stat to track? He's now 11-8 which is actually a lower % than his overall w/l

Honestly, I'm conflicted on this. We saw how the Brady thing turned out: Go through courts one year, serve the suspension the next year. That means we can expect Zeke to be out the first 6 games of next season if this follows the same path. I'd much prefer Zeke miss games THIS year, as Dallas is not Superbowl ready. The defense needs at least one more year to come together, and Dak needs another year under his belt to continue his progression. I'd be more than happy this year with 1 or 2 playoff wins, then exiting the playoffs and getting ready for a serious playoff push next year.

Yeah, as much as I would like for this to play out and Zeke be able to give a big fuck you to Goodell and not serve a suspension, I think it will be just like the Brady case. At the end of the day the CBA gives Goodell the power to punish how he sees fit, and I don't see how they win.

So congrats to the folks that drafted him this year in fantasy! Willing to bet he sits the first 6 games next year.

This actually makes complete sense long run. Speaking purely for this year, it sucks for my team and damn sure in my fantasy league where dude grabbed David Johnson with #1 overall pick and Zeke/Kareem Hunt with picks 20 and 21.

What makes you think Dallas isn't Super Bowl ready? They went 13-3 and got the #1 seed last year and lost due to a miracle play.

Their losses were average secondary players who were replaced by other average secondary players.
