Frank Gore is the man. I wonder if he would still be a 49er if they had known he would stay effective for this long. Hell I wouldn't mind seeing him come back to SF for his final season.

If that happens I'll throw away all my Rams gear and become a Steelers fan for life. Just saying.

Jimmy G free agent after this season. If he plays next Sunday like the past 4 weeks SF HAS to lock him up long term. We are talking in the neighborhood of 5yrs ~120 million w/ ~40-60 million guaranteed. Or they Have to franchise him. Otherwise, someone else will pay him that, since his body of work -while small - is extremely impressive. He doesn't get franchised there will be AT LEAST 6 teams trying to sign him long term.

If the pats did not trade Jimmy g, they would Have had to pay him (see above amount) or franchise him. And no team wants to pay the backup more than the starter.

I wonder if all the viewership/etc issues from all the shenanigans this year is going to have an impact on contracts or not.

Stranger things have happened. The Browns have not been a gimme all year. They have played hard if not well.

Probably not immediately, but it could eventually. The salary cap really dictates those prices, and I believe the salary cap is influenced by revenue. So if revenue is down, I would assume the salary cap eventually goes down. I don't know the exact details, but I think that is roughly how it works.

Oh, and it sounds like Pagano knows he's on the way out.

He should have been fired a while ago. Not like the Colts would be good no matter what coach they have. The roster is a mess.

so the rams are - basically- tossing the last game. (i already picked the 49ers to win)

i'd laugh my ass off if the steelers lose to the browns sunday, HOWEVER, it is possible IF the steelers rest players..they CANNOT finish lower than 2nd. the question is...do they want the chance at #1 seed(they win & pats lose) or do they just say screw it we're #2!!!!!

#2 will play- most likely jacksonville.

funny thing is,jacksonville will not know their wildcard opponent until after the 425 games. titans, bills chargers are all playing @425
ravens locked it at #5 are playing the chiefs in the wildcard round
but the 6th seed still has 3 teams vying for it.

Titans win, they are in- but they are playing jacksonville this week
Chargers win and titans lose- chargers are the 6th seed.
bills Win, chargers and titans lose- Bills are the 6th seed
all 3 teams lose Titans are the 6th seed.

patriots will be playing- most likely -either the Ravens/Chiefs, However, if Jacksonville LOSES(wildcard game)...Pats would play Titans/Bills/Chargers instead and the Steelers would get Ravens/Chiefs

Ravens aren't in yet. If they lose to Cincy, with Tennessee beating Jacksonville and Buffalo beating Miami...Titans get the 5 seed and go to Kansas City, while Buffalo would end the longest playoff layoff (since '99) and get the 6 seed to go play @Jacksonville.

Chargers lose in any 3+ way tie whether they win or not.

If both the Ravens and Buffalo lose, with Tennessee winning, Tennessee gets the 5th seed and Ravens the 6th seed (doesn't matter what the Chargers do in this instance).

If the Ravens and Tennessee both lose, but Buffalo manages to beat Miami, Buffalo grabs the 5th seed and the Ravens the 6th seed (again doesn't matter what the Chargers do in this instance).

The only way San Diego makes the playoffs is if the Ravens win to get to 10-6, and the Titans lose to stay 8-8. Then the Chargers need to win to get to 9-7, and it doesn't matter what Buffalo does. Ravens would be 5th seed, Chargers 6th (by virtue of head to head win over Buffalo).

I would say that it's even likely the Bengals beat the Ravens. Marvin has owned them historically, it's his last game, and the Bengals have nothing to play for except for losing draft position. It all adds up to a pointless win.

Considering the Chargers started 0-4 the fact they had any shot to make the playoffs is crazy and more than any fan can ask for. The fact that when they had their chance against the Chiefs they did their usual collapse(just Charger things) and still have a chance is amazing. Here is to hoping.
