He's a great OC/playcaller. Just a shitty head coach. When he left SF to go be the head coach in San Diego I felt like it made both teams worse.

There's a lot of guys out there that make great coordinators, but really bad head coaches. Wade Phillips is one of the best defensive coordinators out there and always seems to instantly improve defenses wherever he goes, but just isn't a very good HC

Well the Hawks have canned their OC and offensive line coach... so hopefully we don't shit the bed with our new hires. I haven't heard if there is anyone specifically we are targeting as of yet.

Hue Jackson was an excellent OC for the Bengals. He made Dalton look like a fucking MVP candidate in 2015 before he got hurt.

the key to beating brady and the patriots offense is typically easy to know, yet hard to execute..

fast consistent pressure from the D-Linemen and good 2ndry coverage for ~3-4 seconds. being able to get to the QB "Fast" is the key. brady is- usually- at his best if he can throw a pass within the first 3 seconds of the play. a d-line able to get pressure up the middle "fast" is the key

broncos did it a few years ago, the giants did it twice, etc. brady tends to struggle against a strong-fast pass rush team. (of course so do pretty much all other QB's too..- the ones that can run well (newton, russell, etc) show that it can be beat by running to avoid the pocket collapsing.

If Gronk is healthy this is generally harder to do since it's rare a defense is going to be excellent in all three layers of the defense. Of course, that's about a 50/50 proposition that he's healthy.

I also feel like the Pats have some better blocking backs than they might have had in the past.

you guys see the comments from the ex ceo of the 49ers comments on the upcoming Jimmy G negotiations?

“If I were representing the team, I think what I would do is enter the room and I would bring a large jar of Vaseline,” Policy said. “And I would say to the agent on the other side, ‘I’m a nice guy. I really want to do the right thing. Please be gentle with me.'”

That's funny, and also probably the correct approach. The franchise tag is the only thing the 9ers have to bargain with, and that's not a great option because it just kicks the can down the road for a year and if he's what you think he is then it will be even more expensive. Hopefully Jimmy's not looking to be the highest paid QB in the NFL after 5 games, but if he is, he might be able to get it. Paraag Marathe is a great contract guy so hopefully at least they can get some stuff in there where if he shits the bed they don't have to pay him the whole thing.

It really depends on jimmy's mindset coming into the negotiating table, he has the 49ers by the Balls right now...and they know it.

is he going to negotiate hard for the most money(~23-25 mil a year)? or is he going to give the team a relatively good deal so that he is getting a good bonus, and slightly less money than he could command, so as to be able to get better players around him (~20mil a year) so that the team can win?

Jimmy's agent is Brady's who has been not greedy in the negotiations for him (Brady) so i think it may be the latter, but it still is going to be around 5yrs and 100 million(that would be 20 a year) to 5/125. with say 40-60 guaranteeed... probably back end loaded so that after ~3-4 years have to renegotiate to eliminate some of the Cap hit.

Bradys agent has no say in Brady taking less money. If it was up to him he certainly would not as it cuts his own pay. So Brady is the only QB that has shown he is willing to take less money than he is worth. I would expect 22+ a year for Garappolo.

This is awesome. Best of luck to him! What colleges is he looking at?

Miami approached his mother and I the 2nd day of practices. University of Penn. (Not Penn State) has invited us to come see the campus. Those have been the biggest schools. Delaware, Morgan and some school called Samford gave us their cards.

He wants to play for Harvard (We live in Boston). They have shown zero interest...everyone tells me to just wait until Jr/Sr years.

Ivy League schools still don't give out athletic scholarships right? Doubtful he'd get approached for athletics by an Ivy League school if that's the case.

Because of the high school he goes to he probably will. I'm not sure how Ivy League does scholarships if any. I already told him I can't afford 80K a year for 10 years, so look elsewhere if no full ride at that price.
