I think that between the two teams, there's only one main difference between the two in terms of strengths: goaltending. Boston has a leg up in that regard. Chicago I think has more high end talent/scorers, but Boston has more big bodies to crash the net with. Defense is pretty close between the two. Going to be a very good series, I think, but I'd have to give the edge to Boston if only because of Rask.

Crawford has been very good and Chicago's pk has been insane. I think the bruins match up well against them though.

We beat Quick so I'm not afraid of Rask. Howard was no pushover either when we played the Wings. We know how to "solve" tough Goaltenders. The Hawks speed I believe will prove to be too much for the Bruins to handle. The Kings were supposed to totally beat the Hawks up with their big "quick" forwards but it's hard to beat us up if you can't catch us. The only thing I worry about is our Powerplay and that it will finally catch up to us that can't score on them.

Chicago reminds me a lot of the Pens - a well scoring offense that relies on speed instead of grinding it out in the trenches and Bruins figured out a way to solve the Penguins by sucking them into a physical grinding game.

Chicago needs to avoid that lest they want to end up like the pens. That's how Detroit almost got them

Fairly sure the Kings did beat the Blackhawks up those 5 games. Some hard hits, but the Bruins also haven't come through completely unscathed. Should be a good series either way, all hockey at this level comes down to a few lucky breaks here, a few lucky breaks there. I thought Crawford was great this series, but he does allow some pretty cheap goals.

Fixed that for you bro.
They lost one game based on goaltending, if you consider a game where they scored one goal themselves as blameable on the goaltending=P Other three games were 4 total goals allowed. The difference you want is "Pens with discipline and heart".

This series is hard to judge because of the east and west not playing each other this year. The big weakness that everyone likes to point out with the Hawks is that they always get out hit. Hits are the most overrated stat because the Hawks play very disciplined and refuse to take themselves out of a play just to lay someone out. The Bruins are very good at killing penalties. Problem is the Hawks PP fucking sucks so that is kind of wasted. Crawford has been consistent through the entire playoffs and the Hawks just beat the widely believed best Goaltender in the game. The Hawks are also deeper and have 4 legit lines that can score.

Should be fun and don't rule out some weird bounce or two that could change the series either way.

oh you mean a weird bounce like the kind 90% of all goals make? safe bet.

in some alternate dimension wayne gretzky retired without a single goal. ice was just unlucky.

I dunno, they nearly lost to the Islanders in the first round and that was largely on goaltending.

I'd imagine some of that is scheduling around the NBA finals, and some of it is giving CBC their Saturday night HNIC broadcasts.

I think you're right about the NBA finals. A Chicago/Boston series is going to be big in the US, and put it out there while no other playoff sports are happening, viewership will be way up.

Canada is all about that Head Wakandan In Charge broadcast!
It will be very big in Canada. That is the only way they get to ever see the Stanley Cup.

What does a Pittsburgh Penguins fan do when his team has won the Stanley Cup? A: He turns off the PlayStation 3.
