Namestnikov is a solid forward, should be a long term upgrade if they re-sign him. Howden and Hajek I know nothing about, if they got called up any time recently I don't remember them. Apparently Hajek was who the Rangers really wanted in the deal in regards to prospects so... yay for them? Toss in a first rounder with potential for another (the other pick is a second round with it becoming a first if the Lightning win the cup this year or next). All that for 2 guys who will start, and help, immediately. Sucks to lose Namestnikov, but deals gotta happen when you're so close to a championship. I guess for the Rags it really depends on if they're able to re-sign Namestnikov and how the prospects/draft picks pan out. Be funny if he comes back to the Lightning when his contract is up.

Yeah, SY must be a huge Ranger fan...

Miller and Namestnikov very similar, I think Bolts slightly win on that front though. Namestnikov's numbers may be inflated playing with Stammer and the Kuch, hope i'm wrong. Personally, Miller was 3rd in points this season but I had seen enough. Not particularly sad to see him go. Very streaky, takes bad penalties and has been a turnover machine. When they connect, his passes lead to stellar plays but too few and far between for my taste. No way we were keeping him AND Kreider, glad it wasn't the latter that we lost. Overall, 1 for 1 it's kind of a wash in terms of value.

The McD portion is where the salty Ranger fans come into play. Most were hoping for Pointe or Sergachev, which IMO was never gonna happen. Foote would of been nice, but hearing Howden is just as valuable. Hearing lots of potential on Hajek too but I admit I don't know much of him. Guess they looked good at the WJC? We'll see I guess, but another 1'st and another conditional is good and we didn't retain any salary so huge salary dumb this weekend overall. McD hasn't looked the same since 2014, but no doubt he will be solid in TB not having to be THE guy. Never should of been named captain, but that is a different topic of discussion. Bolts didn't have to give up much (that they couldn't afford) and they got significantly better, they are gonna be tough to beat.

Doesn't seem as bad as some Ranger fans seem to think, but TB came out slightly ahead on this one short term. Hopefully one or both of these prospects work out.

Only clear trade loser today was Buffalo, Kane went for less than Grabner....

Yeah the Kane trade was weird. If the sharks don't resign him the 1st becomes a 2nd.

Really happy with Doug Wilson today (Sharks GM). Picking up Kane for beans is pretty sweet. Hopefully we can sign him long-term.

Was nice to have to kill off so many penalties tonight. Also Kuznetsov could have had a hat trick tonight, but literally turned down a goal with an empty net yawning. Was pretty ridiculous.

Kane lookin pretty good in teal - 2 assists right out the gate. He was throwing some brutal hits and showing that speed to boot. Between this and our young guys showing up, this team could be pretty nasty when Jumbo gets back.

Like seriously. Never seen this before. Doesn't feel like scoring.

St. Louis Blues are melting down. I can't even...

Check their reddit. Theyve given up on the hockey team and switched to a Blues music reddit

St. Louis Blues • r/stlouisblues

After much deliberation and shared frustration with the current status of the team, the negativity and the toxicity that has started growing amongst the sub accordingly, we as a mod team have decided that until the Blues next win, we are relaxing our rules on shitposting on the sub. Mind you this is not a blanket statement, as we absolutely expect that threads remain on topic by being related to Blue. SO NO POSTING ANY RED, GREEN, YELLOW, CYAN, or CHARTREUSE SHIT. Extra points if it's a post of a Blues singer from St. Louis dressed in Blue.

Have at it.

EDIT: There was some miscommunication regarding the approach we were taking. 4 of the six of us originally started removing them as per our rules regarding shitposts, but after how bad the loss was, we started talking about it and we feel honestly the best thing for the sub was to relax and let everyone vent and let off some steam. Any bans/removed comments should be reinstated, sorry for the confusion!

Went and watched a minor league game last weekend. I’m into it now. Way more entertaining than football or baseball. Going to try to get to a pro game which I assume will look a bit different skill wise. Very few of the passes were actually successful, the puck just richocheted around the whole time. Fucking hilarious to listen to everyone around you trying to figure out what icing is. It’s like hearing jfk conspiracy theories.

Who would your "local" pro team be?

Icing is an infraction in the sport of ice hockey. It occurs when a player shoots the puck across both the centre red line and the opposing team's goal line, and the puck remains untouched. ... A major exception is when a team is shorthanded.

Going to a minor league hockey game is almost always more fun than watching an NHL game on TV. I've taken people with no interest to hockey to see the local ECHL team and they almost always enjoy it. They might not become hockey fans, but good times can be had even during lousy games.

ECHL, that was the league I'm pretty sure, it was the solar bears in Orlando. I've watched hockey on TV from time to time but growing up in Florida I never really had any perspective on the live gameplay. Jealous as hell of those skating skills, shit looks cool.

Namestnikov with a Goal and and assist in his first game and Spooner with 3 more assists giving him 5 in two games. Rebuild over, lord Stanley here we come!!

What's that? Another game with 55+ sog allowed?? Yeah, nm...

New guys better watch out though or we may just try and keep them this summer.

It's fun watching Rangers fans battle whether Gorton did a terrible job or a good job with the trades. At least some of the return is showing some early production.

Namestnikov is a proven player and I was sad to see him go. It really is going to boil down to how the prospects work out and what they do with the draft picks. And Warmuth.... if you're in Orlando you're an hour and a half from the Lightning's arena, no excuse. :p
