If there's any question that Winnipeg's not the best team in the league......there's no question now.

Tom Wilson look like a bitch backing down from fighting Logan Stanley. Wilson's a tough guy when fighting sub 6' guys, but pussied-out when faced with 6'7" Stanley.

It's +11C/+52F here. I'll be catfishing and driving my convertible soon.

I mean it was at Winnipeg and went to OT. I am pretty sure people can question.

But by all means, please take the President's Trophy!

Please, Wilson is far more selective about who he fights now. Him being off the ice for 5 minutes for the likes of Logan Stanley is a joke. That would be supremely stupid on his part, though smart of Stanley if he baited him into it.

Also don't think scoring in 3 on 3 makes them definitively the best team in the league. Caps were pretty comfortably ahead in possession stats for all situations. Their main issue right now is their PP has been ice cold lately.

Given our history and Winnipeg's history in the playoffs...I'm not optimistic of whoever gets it.
Detroit learned years ago that winning the Presidents Cup doesn't = Stanley Cup. They realized that they were wearing themselves out before the playoffs started.

The Presidents Cup is the only thing that the Jets could win this year. :/

On another note the Communist Chinese are infiltrating the NHL...

He might be playing for the Jets within 2 years.

Game over Comrades.

Well, with Boston College losing, might see Ryan Leonard in the lineup for the Caps in Boston Tuesday night.

Well, Ryan Leonard contract watch didn't last long. Looks like he'll debut tomorrow night in Boston now, too.

Very well played game by the Kings tonight. Swept the best team in the West this season. It'll be awesome when Edmonton takes us out again this season.
(But I'm kind of believing we're pretty good)

It's such a weird feeling right now with the Caps compared to last year. This whole retool on the fly thing has been a whirlwind. I've never seen so many moves all work out at once along with so many guys making a big jump in their play all in one season. On the outside looking in, none of them individually are completely out of left field (other than Protas turning into the best contract in the league), but for all of them together to work out this well has been nuts.

Just knowing we have Leonard up now with the team, and other prospects like Miro, Cristall, Hutson, Protas' brother, among others on the way, it feels like Caps almost have another competitive window opening up, instead of a giant rebuild everyone expected. Hitting on a bunch of picks the last couple years helps, as does the jump some of our picks from a few years further back have made. Protas is trying to do something nobody else ever has, finish with 60+ even strength points while having less than 2 power play points. He's at 60 ES now, with only 1 PP point currently.

Factor in the fact that we're about to have an insane amount of cap space once Ovechkin and Carlson are off the books after next year, we could likely go out and sign a high impact FA.

The East and West Conferences are so different. In the West, four already eliminated, three already clinched. In the East, one clinched. I have always said that the East is by far the more competitive conference, and the West seems like there are just great divides between the good and the bad. I also think the rivalries in the East are greater and more fun.

In any case, I really hope Montreal makes that 8th spot for the playoffs. And the fact that Ottawa looks likely to make playoffs is fantastic. I'm sorry, I have a huge bias...I really, really want Canadian teams to make it. I hope so much the Cup goes home to Canada sometime soon.
