Sounds like they will have a pretty good lineup of games for the launch of the system. That's good news.

Have to remember most of this shit is still speculation/rumor at this point, they haven't announced their lineups and it seems the devs/publishers are also not allowed to talk about what game they'll be releasing on switch before nintendo announces them(probably in january). So you can look at march releases and assume some of them will be switch games, but this isn't necessarily the case, especially since march tends to be often a pretty good month for new releases.

Honestly if you don't want to be disapointed, I wouldn't put much weight into any news until january(when leaks might pop that are actually real, or until the actual nintendo announcement).

I still don't really "get" the Nintendo classic but I kind of wanted to get one for the office since I don't feel my company would be happy bringing in an RPI with a ton of pirated shit on it. I think I'll just wait when they become more readily available.

All the reviews have stated that the entire collection is very, very high quality emulation- the controller feels 100% correct as does "response" for the games- sound and visuals are in the 90% range - this is a lot better than event the modern emus and roms give- and is head and shoulders above those "generic" NES/SNES all in one emu boxes you can buy (although most of them are quite decent) - and then you need to have all the old carts.

Felt like a kid, told my parents this is what me and my brother want each for Christmas...for the grandkids! yeah them.

I think it is silly to say that the emulation factor is better than software emulators on ROMS and PC. No offense. These are NES games we are talking about and I have had zero latency control issues or response issues when playing these games through ZNES or anything else for that matter. People who want to shell out $60 for this are one of two things, of which both are perfectly fine. 1) Do not want to mess with emulation and the small time required to get it up and running. 2) Do not have the knowledge and don't want to waste time learning. The games play just like they did on my old NES system on my PC.

there are some in-depth reviews that talk about the differences found in common emulation and the nes classic. Most of the reading I have done gives props to Nintendo for NOT phoning it in with this device, its not just a lazy toss and emu on a pi and the games and call it a day.

Now, for 99% of anyone a znes + usb controller fills the feelz no problem - and is not that hard to find a torrent with every friggen nes-snes-n64-genisis-turbogpx16 etc game in one download complete with emulators etc.

However this does provide a good, high quality product that is also 100% legal.

Its also very convenient for them to now fully re-publish all these games and keep their copyright up to date- as this is now a physical medium for these items to be available and that effects enforcement of IP etc.

3) Don't want to be pirates when there is a convenient solution

4) Games released in 1986-88 have pretty much been all but labeled abandoned ware. If I own the cartridge, or have paid for the cartridge before, playing the ROM on a PC doesn't make me feel bad when I paid for the games out of my lawn mowing money when I was a kid. Christ, a few times I purchased the games twice due to Wii/Gameboy 3DS emulation. Triple dip for the win? I think not.

I'd estimate 95% (probably higher) of all downloaded and played ROMs are by people who have never owned a copy of the game legally. And like I said even if I loaded my RPI up with ROMs I have physical carts for there is no way my employer would know that so I could see them not digging me having an RPI with EmuStation loaded on it at the office. But with this everything is nice a tidy.

One big negative about the mini nes shit is the length of the cable on the pad is ridiculously short. And obviously it's overpriced if you compare to like normal emulation, but I guess you can say you pay for the packaging mostly, the pad especially is nice, even with its tiny cable.

I wouldn't buy one though, I still have a NES and while I'm fairly sure the batteries in my Zelda cartridge are probably dead, I replayed the game a while ago already(I mean it was probably 10years ago now, but it was recent compared to when I originally played it). And I'd say Zelda is literally the only game I'd bother playing on NES. SNES games, there's dozens I'd want to play, but NES, there's only a few and the only one I'd want to replay is Zelda. Maybe Mario, but meh.

I still enjoy playing Ninja Gaiden, MM and the Mario (2+3) games on NES. They're still fun. And Battletoads.

But yeah I'd be more excited about SNES. I wouldn't even be hugely excited for N64 since most of the good games on N64 are now done better on newer platforms like SSB and MK. Only N64 game I'd be super interested in, and I doubt they could get the license worked out, would be Jet Force Gemini.

mines coming today, supposed to be a gift but i might crack it open to check it out. which is kinda dumb, i could run a emulators on half a dozen things i own but eh. yeah the 1 foot cable length of the controller is retarded as fuck, but typical nintendo

anyways word is breath of the wild won't launch with the switch, they want more time to polish and localize it. Seems like a dumb move unless they are gonna pull this mini NES shit with the switch too and make it impossible to buy for the first couple of months.
Rumor: Breath of the Wild will not be released in March.

1ft cable? wtf? Doesn't it use a specialized interface so you can't just buy a USB extension cord?

So now you have to buy the classic, a second controller and two extension cables. Jeez this thing is like a $100 proposition now.
