I don’t really care for the switch, but my son has one. It is the best console for exclusives, hands down. They have a lot of IPs you can’t play anywhere else, without stealing them obviously. No other console has a massive amount of high quality exclusives like Nintendo.Question : Do I pick up a switch OLED for the BOTW sequel or wait for the inevitable ROM and play it on PC w/ an emulator? That's how I played the 1st one ( it was a wii emulator but you get the idea). I am asking is the switch worth the $$$ for the 1st party games?
Nintendo really lives in its own space without a doubt, and has its own exclusives peculiar to its ecosystem. We really live in the best world, IMO, where each of the Big Three has its own distinct approach it their space driven by their limitations that has benefits for gamers:I don’t really care for the switch, but my son has one. Me too. They do have the biggest 1st party IP pool of the big 3 but I am not the target age group for a large amount of them. I decided to pass on the switch, I just don't see myself using it all that much when I have a PC and a PS5. I would essentially be paying $400 to play one game.I really wish Nintendo would go the Sega route and just publish games and forget the hardware.
Nintendo still has some of the best IPs on the market, but are drastically held back due to hardware limitations in my opinion.
Also, the games come out at such a snail pace, that I know I might not ever live to see an actual next Gen worthy Metroid, Donkey Kong, or one of many other exclusive titles.
Why would they do this? Their way they get the ole 2fer. One, selling the shit hardware, two, selling all the exclusives to play on that shit hardware.I really wish Nintendo would go the Sega route and just publish games and forget the hardware.

That'd be a no'fer in my case, but I don't mind having an excuse to not add even more games to my backlog~ 1080p/60+ or bustWhy would they do this? Their way they get the ole 2fer. One, selling the shit hardware, two, selling all the exclusives to play on that shit hardware.
Because there is obviously an untapped market of gamers that like good graphics and high frame rates who grew up on Nintendo games. Release a system that’s actually somewhat modern instead of twelve years behind with all the IPs people like and you gain even more of a player base. Why would they do this? It would then be a 3fer. One, Sell good hardware. Two sell exclusives to play on the good hardware. Three grow your market share.
LOL they have five of the top ten in that list. Not even close. Yeah, why would they change? The current strategy seems to be working just fine for Nintendo. The Switch is the 3rd best selling video game console of all time and ahead of anything from Sony or Microsoft recently. Why change the formula?

I feel like you didn't read my post at all. Like I said...grow the market share. If an underpowered handheld like Switch can sell great, a more powerful Nintendo handheld would sell even better. Gamers would like better performance...Nintendo execs and shareholders would like to sell even more and have yet another console on that top ten list. The current strategy seems to be working just fine for Nintendo. What's the downside of making an even better system with all their exclusives?

The switch lite is $200, can’t be docked so always 720p. Normal switch is $300, oled switch is $350. Both of those are 720p, 1080p docked. The switch handheld is what? Like $200? Prob costs them like $25 to make. A lot easier pill to swallow for a parent to buy their kids rather than a $1000 handheld.
