There's tons of articles out there like this bit of faggotry:

Anyone who thinks there was a chance in hell the Switch 2 was going to be $350 is a fucking retard, and the only reason these articles exist is "ORANGE MAN BAD". Funny how the price in other countries/regions is basically the same or even higher, like ~$520 in UK, $535 in Europe with people on reddit reporting that retailers in some countries are setting the price over $100 higher than Nintendo's MSRP. Plus Europe is getting hit with the +€10 physical cart upcharge and that's not happening here (yet). Trump's LONG OVERDUE reciprocal tariffs are just a convenient excuse.
Same outlet has another one Chicken Little-ing about how tariffs are the death of all physical media.
And no, I'm not buying the console anymore. Everything I've read about the backwards compatibility says it's going to be a total shitshow, so unless DF comes out with a video showing Bayonetta 3 and other games that were miserable to play on the Switch running at locked 60 fps on Switch 2 there's no point in getting the thing until after the first hardware refresh.
Out of all of the "orange man bad tariff bad Switch 2 price due to tariff" doomsaying online, I have yet to see literally anybody explain how any of that makes sense when other markets like EU are getting the system for even higher amounts than here. Factor in the conversion rates and...
Base system is 469.99€ and MK bundle is 509.99€. That's roughly $535 and $580 in USD.
...yeah, there you go.
I mean the whole argument gets busted instantly, but they still do it.
Now if Nintendo adjusts the price upward in a proportional way to compensate for tariffs and issues a new higher price that is exclusive to the US, then one could make the argument that the tariffs are the reason for a higher system price because it'll be true. Since they already jumped the gun on pretending the prices were high because of tariffs, the news won't have the impact it could have. Which is the problem with jumping the gun on things in an effort to stick it to Big Orange.
