These comments!

I want my console to be 32gb stable so I'll be using memory cards and game carts.

Hey guys I cannot wait to be able to store 4 games along with the OS. I also want to make sure my system doesn't crash because it has too much memory so this is great.

Hm... 32 GB is still very huge space for me since I can treat Switch like 3DS, Physical games only.

Yeah because none of us bought 64gb and much faster cards for our 3DS's which made the thing load 500% faster and also let us store anything we wanted on there without having to swap.

Destruictoid is also reporting that the Switch will support, down the road, external USB drives connected to the dock as another option to increase memory! Maybe you could look into that, too?

Because having a storage feature from 1999 is insanely difficult to support at launch. Hang in there folks! We shipped with a power button!

At least the hdmi cable and power supply comes in the box. Thanks Nintendo.

WHAT A GIFT! I can power it on and plug it into my TV! THANK YOU SO MUCH NINTENDO FOR INCLUDING THIS IN THE BOX WHEN YOU ARE CHARGING $300 FOR A CONSOLE WITH A COST OF ABOUT $146.

Had they included an HDD drive, you'd be complaining even louder about the price.

Someone thinks Nintendo isn't making 2.3 margins on the hardware. And that's hilarious.

YES!!! That's all I needed to hear. I thought we were gonna need an external drive again like Wii u. 2tb capacity of flash memory has me sorted for the duration of Nintendo Switch.

THANK YOU NINTENDO. I cannot wait to get 2tb storage for $899!

I want everyone here to team up with me on a project where we can completely gouge the customer with little to no value and let's make some cash. These are our customers.

Souls on the Switch means its portable enough to play in a hotel room as I travel for work, not on the fucking bus.

Thanks,
Danny

Sounds good. Let's hope a souls game comes out before you retire.

Also, just because you see a logo on a screen doesn't mean jack shit. It means they are a third party partner but doesn't hold them to actually making anything for the switch. The latest from FROM is that they have DS3 running at acceptable levels on the switch, but still haven't decided if they are going to launch anything yet. (Trilogy with all DLC is what they are looking at putting together)

Problem is, if the install base sucks, they won't be doing anything, and they aren't doing anything until at least the fall depending on numbers.

With all the negativity, including much of my own, I thought I would post something a little more positive and optimistic in nature.... Enjoy! :)

Eh, like I said, I'm pretty much getting this console for use on my television. The fact that if I have to travel, I can use it as a portable is a huge plus. I can totally understand people's negativity surrounding a lot of the issues associated with the system. For me, the value is there at $300 to play my favorite Nintendo games. I'm not thrilled at the price of purchasing a separate controller for $70, but maybe that'll come down in price (or there will be generic alternatives). Charging to play online is just total bullshit, but Sony and Microsoft do this as well, so I guess that's just the way it is.

I do not think it is so much the charging to play online... It's the fact their online service sucks and carries no value.

For Xbox Live/PS Plus we get:

2 PS4 Games, 2 PS3 Games, 2 Vita games per month that we can keep as long as we maintain the subscription.
Online Play with a lot of ease of use features and continual adds
We don't have to go back to the stone age and use a smart phone to chat/invite our friends to play
Over 10+ years of dedicated service support.
We can still usually find a sale for a year sub for about 35 bucks.
Also PLENTY of games to play online.

Nintendo's service will not let you keep the free game after one month (And only one game) dated back to NES or SNES anyway.

You have to use a second device to even invite or chat with your friends, on a smart phone. The online service isn't seamless on the console. I mean holy shit, how is that even a conceivable design in this day and age?

Nintendo's launch line up has VERY limited online play functionality aside from Mario Kart and Splatoon. This may change from a third party perspective? But that's a huge gamble considering the negativity surrounding the console right now.

SO many features, services, and policies are from 1993. It's just outwardly ridiculous how anyone thought they were a good idea.

And it goes to the Japanese Culture. I wonder sometimes if it's ego, or just that they never give up and would rather die than admit failure Samauri style and fall on the sword. Hell, some dude finally surrendered in the phillipines in 1972 thinking the war was still going on.

Nintendo says Switch won’t replace the 3DS

"In our view, the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch are going to live side-by-side," Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told Wired in a recent interview. "They’re going to coexist just fine. We’ve done this before, managing two different systems."
Appears they may be passing at using the Switch as an opportunity to merge their console and handheld business. At least for now. We'll see if traditionally mobile games make their way to the Switch or not.

This time, however, Fils-Aime told Wired that "3DS has a long life in front of it," and that Nintendo sees the Switch as "at its heart, it’s a home console that you can take with you on the go." That suggests the 3DS will continue to be the place Nintendo funnels games designed to be played portably, while the Switch gets games more tailored to the TV experience.

Perhaps there's just preserving that product line until Switch establishes itself before pivoting people to it as a single console solution.

I 100% agree with everything you just posted. Fortunately for me, I'm not a younger video gamer. Being that I'm almost 40, my gaming experience will be mostly playing single player games like Zelda or Metroid, or having some friends over to drink beers and play games like Mario Kart. Now, for the younger generations, this console and Nintendo in general is just screaming amateur hour. With how everything now is social media and online games/communications, the decisions Nintendo has made regarding this system are inexcusable. I'm pretty sure my demographic was not the target of the Switch, so in that regard, it looks like they have really missed the mark.

I enjoy shooters and i never did when i was younger, i stayed away from fps shooters like the plague, but as i get older, i find them more fun. lol I am all in on zelda though. its WIIU version, until the switch gives me more games. ill upgrade my PC first. Im just waiting for these new AMD chips to release to see how it goes.

Fuck me. I waited out Wii U for Zelda. Now they're fucking hard to find unless you want to get gouged. I don't want to pay for this crap. I think I'll just be waiting a year on Zelda. I'll admit when I just saw a games trailer with bomberman, Zelda, Tetris/puyo, and Mario kart, I got some SNES vibes (I loved Tetris attack). Then I watched the presentation. Fuck me. Awful.

I wanted $250 with Mario kart packed in, two controllers, and a hard drive worth discussing.

Yeah, they discontinued and recalled the Wii U so it wasn't an option on the shelf next to the Switch.

Wow. I really hope they're just saying that so people don't stop immediately buying 3DS systems. If Nintendo continues developing games and only releasing them on 3DS when they've got the Switch sitting there as well, it'll be yet another colossal blunder.

i mean you can buy a refurb wii u for $200 straight from nintendo if you really want, i bought one long ago and it ran fine for the year I owned it. most of them are just units that never sold, the one i got had never been used and didn't even have fingerprints on it.

imo i think the money is better spent on a good gaming PC, then you can run CEMU (cemu emulator) and just play any wii u game on your PC. BOTW will certainly run inside the emulator pretty soon after release. There are pretty much zero new wii u games coming out this year otherwise

Lol high speed 256GB out now are like $200...

You can get a 200gb one for like $60. There is a huge jump in price for the 256GB because it's the current max capacity manufactured - it will go down in price like the others when the next size comes out, I think SanDisk already demo'd a 1TB version this year. The standard itself supports up to 2TB, so it's just Nintendo saying the console will support that when the manufacturers get around to making them.

if Nintendo were smart they would also release another version that is solely a home console box. Unlike the WiiU, the tablet itself isn't a requirement to use the system since you dock it whenever you use it on a TV anyways.

More likely they make a version that is smaller and more portable to replace the 3DS, despite what they are saying about keeping 3DS support - that's all marketing just like back in the Gameboy/DS era.

Why make one that is home console only? They can't compete with Sony and MS on specs, so there is really no point.

But that is still ridiculous (The add on pricing) though in this day and age when compared to the competition, especially when comparing price vs storage space you are getting.

The only way this thing doesn't turn into worse than a Wii U debacle is correcting the following, and correcting it fast.

1) Online subscription service includes access to the VC library made available on the switch for the duration of a subscription. This offsets the pure headache of a second device needed off the console to even invite your friends/chat with them to/in a game.

2) They need to confirm USB external support - quickly. Not just "Maybe down the road". This isn't hard.

3) They need to cut accessory pricing down by 20-30%. The pro controller should be $49-54. And the same with 2 joycon's.

Do that, and the limited launch line up woes and the ridiculous design of requiring a smart phone external to the console to invite / chat to online games, goes away.

They also better have pricing for the online service the same standard to what we are used to paying now on a PS4/Xbox Live service.
