Eh. I have a PC more than capable of running CEMU. I guess I could go that way. I do like to toss cash on franchises I like (Zelda). I almost always collect the Nintendo consoles + greatest hits at the end of the generation. I just forgot to ever get a Wii U. I still haven't seen a compelling reason for an Xbone or PS4 outside that one launch action RPG on PS4. Wii U plus Zelda, Mario kart, Mario games, a few others would've made for some decent around the TV family/friends fun.

Nintendo kills me. Most of us are dying to give them money. If they'd just go all in with top flight specs and a nice cool look with good online, they could start to rebuild and maybe come in second. But no.

If they weren't hardline pricks about companies making exclusive games for their consoles, they'd still be on top. It took them almost 20 years to finally relent on this issue and it looks (at least on paper) like third parties are finally lining up to make games again for their system. Every system obviously has exclusive games to try and convince consumers to buy their systems (PS had God of War, Xbox had Gears of War) but to try and hold these companies hostage to just make certain games for Nintendo only was just dumb.

Sounds good. Let's hope a souls game comes out before you retire.

Also, just because you see a logo on a screen doesn't mean jack shit. It means they are a third party partner but doesn't hold them to actually making anything for the switch. The latest from FROM is that they have DS3 running at acceptable levels on the switch, but still haven't decided if they are going to launch anything yet. (Trilogy with all DLC is what they are looking at putting together)

Problem is, if the install base sucks, they won't be doing anything, and they aren't doing anything until at least the fall depending on numbers.

Well aren't you just Mr. Sunshine.

CEMU 1.7.0 is out cemu emulator I just tried out Super Mario 3D and Super Mario Maker and both were running at 60 fps for me on a 970 in windowed mode, few fps hitches as it compiled textures but there are apparently texture packs you can predownload to make it even better at

I'll have to look at this when I get home, but...uh...doesn't Maker make use of the second screen? I thought that wasn't emulated?

I presume games are being found via shady spots.

But that is still ridiculous (The add on pricing) though in this day and age when compared to the competition, especially when comparing price vs storage space you are getting.

The only way this thing doesn't turn into worse than a Wii U debacle is correcting the following, and correcting it fast.

1) Online subscription service includes access to the VC library made available on the switch for the duration of a subscription. This offsets the pure headache of a second device needed off the console to even invite your friends/chat with them to/in a game.

2) They need to confirm USB external support - quickly. Not just "Maybe down the road". This isn't hard.

3) They need to cut accessory pricing down by 20-30%. The pro controller should be $49-54. And the same with 2 joycon's.

Do that, and the limited launch line up woes and the ridiculous design of requiring a smart phone external to the console to invite / chat to online games, goes away.

They also better have pricing for the online service the same standard to what we are used to paying now on a PS4/Xbox Live service.

1. It would be great if they offered their full VC library as a paid service, or even just like 5 games a month instead of the 1. This is a new architecture though and Nintendo doesn't half-ass emulation, which means all these VC titles will have to be re-emulated with new wrappers and more QA testing. The VC will probably be sparse at Switch launch, even the Wii U VC never matched the Wii's VC library. We also have no idea yet how much the online service will cost. What if it's like $5/month and all they are using it for is to upgrade their matchmaking service and stability? Can you really be angry at whatever bonuses they throw in for such a low monthly fee. Either way, hopefully we get more details about the service before launch, although it will be free for ~7 months.

2. They have already said the USB 3.0 external HDD is technologically possible, they just don't want to do it until they get some more usage data. Having your storage tied to the dock completely defeats the purpose of it being a portable device - as soon as you undock there goes your storage. Not to mention what if the console gets undocked while you are playing a game off USB storage? Corruption? It would be like taking the cartridge or disc out of your console while the game is turned on, but much easier to have happen accidentally. Maybe if they find that the majority of users are keeping the console docked instead of playing it on the couch/bed/work/etc they will rethink it.

3. Both the Pro and JoyCons have new haptic HD rumble tech, IR sensors, and batteries large enough to enable 40 (Pro) and 20 (JoyCon) hour charges, and all the reviews/impressions I've seen of the hardware and controllers themselves make them sound very well made. I'm sure their margins are lower already than they'd like compared to the killing PS4/Xbox make off their controllers. You can argue that adding all that tech to the controllers wasn't needed/asked for and I'd have no rebuttal, but for what we are getting I'm not sure $10-15 over a PS4 controller is unwarranted. Stores will cut into their own margins and sell them cheaper than MSRP anyways, just like they do for the other console controllers.

The Day 1 lineup sucks outside of Zelda, but at least it appears they have spaced it out so that we will get an AAA game every month leading up to Mario Odyssey. Splatoon 2 and MK8 Deluxe seem completely finished so they are just trying to spread the window out a bit for their own software, something that Wii U and 3DS completely failed at - neither had anything worth buying the first 6 months except for on launch day. They are definitely saving some announcements for E3 - we'll most likely see a mainline Pokemon and Monster Hunter announcement there.

Ha! Well, you are talking about how you are buying it for an application you find useful, and I am just reminding you that just because a name is on the 3rd party support list, doesn't mean your application of playing Dark Souls on a portable is going to come true. If this doesn't sell, From Software won't be dedicating any development time to port over three games and it's DLC in a bundle unless 1) It has a base to make it worth going after. 2) It's cheap as dirt to port so the risk is minimal.

CEMU 1.7.0 is out

Wish they had better compatibility with other games, because I couldn't really care less about Nintendo's first party stuff these days, aside from the upcoming Zelda. TMS#FE is still nowhere near playable in CEMU, same with Fatal Frame and Wonderful 101 (possible but pretty unlikely that fixes made it into 1.7), and XCX is playable but only with some hitching and framerate issues on anything but really high end CPUs. That leaves Bayonetta 2, and it sounds like it should run at 60fps but music must be turned off.

The peripheral problem I'll just solve by buying used.

The price is probably going to come down next year. They're basically cashing in on early adopters. If the price doesn't come down, they'll at least make a bundle. I expect either a Mario Kart 8 bundle, a Smash bundle, or maybe an Odyssey bundle by the end of the year.

As for everything else, lots of shit is still really unclear. Online works through a phone app, but we don't know if we can do the same stuff in the system itself. I'm going to avoid the monthly fee as long as I can (Monster Hunter will make me lose the will to fight on, though). Someone made a good point about the lack of web browser. It's likely because most of the time when a Nintendo system gets hacked, it's through the web browser.

The one thing this system will have going for it is that it'll have all of Nintendo's output. No more having to buy a console and a handheld. Now they just need to sing the 3DS to it's sleep and fire on all cylinders.

This. It kills me how people (not just here, but in general) seem to be getting excited about this supposed abundance of 3rd party support, but it's hardly a guaranteed thing. Hell, Reggie even said that one of the big deciding factors in how much 3rd party development support the Switch gets will depend on it's install base, so they're hoping for a big install base.

If the Switch fails to sell, 3rd party developers are going to abandon it in droves.

True, but if the rumor is they already have Dark Souls 3 running with acceptable performance on Switch hardware, isn't that most of the work already done? Usually 3rd party abandons a console AFTER the work it's already done is released - even the Wii U had 3rd party support at from launch to a year in or so.

Switch should also be extremely easy to port to compared to the Wii U. nVidia has seen to that.

Thing is, I don't the switch because its battery and portability is worse compared to the 3DS.

yep, going the WiiU Route as well. Ill wait a bit for the switch. NO point in spending 400 bucks on 1 game.

Holy shit the comments. "I SURE HOPE ANYONE THAT MADE FUN OF THIS FOR LACK OF STORAGE FEELS SILLY NOW!"

Are they THAT blind? Holy Hannah. The price on anything 256 is upwards of $150. I added a 2 tb internal drive to my PS4 for way less than that. Also, if they don't assure that external hard drive support is supported (TO my knowledge they still have not done this yet) that's going to be:

$300 for the console
$70 for a pro controller
$47.99 for Zelda
$150 for 256 gb of STILL limited storage
Unknown for their shitty upcoming multiplayer service which requires a separate device for inviting people. (Lol)

So there you have it folks. $567.99 to play Zelda on the switch with a normal controller and enough storage to store 8 games on it, in glorious 900p, 720p on the road with 3 hour battery life and when you want to invite your friends into a game? You have to fire up your phone to send an invite. (COME ON! HOW DID THAT DECISION EVEN GET MADE!)

What a bargain.

Nintendo seems to be making a ton of fuck ups with this system. However, since the system isn't even out for a few more months, maybe they'll come to their senses on a few things? $80 for extra pro controllers is just insane. That's almost $400 fucking dollars for controllers if I want to have 4 (like I did with the Gamecube). Also (and I know there's nothing they can do now), 32GB hard drive was just a dumb fucking decision. 500 should've been the minimum. You're practically forcing people to buy extra SD cards for the system. I think Nintendo should either re-access the need to sell the console at a profit, or bring down the price of some of their accessories, cause I don't see too many people paying this much money for a system that's basically about the same tech wise as a PS3.

Either that, or they better have a shit ton of amazing games.
