Luke was what, 19 or 20ish if I recall in A New Hope? You mean to tell me that Yoda goes from agile DBZ warrior fighting machine to slightly crazy basically useless (not an insult, because he was still badass) mentor in 19 years? He was 900 when he died as he stated to Luke when he died. He was already a senior citizen during episodes 1-3. His fighting was fucking stupid and had no business even happening.

Why I always used what happened in one the thrawn trilogies to explain why he was weaker in 4,5,6 compared to 1,2,3. That way I don't rage at bad story telling between originals and prequels.

In the books , iirc, he had to fight a dark jedi master, for 1-2 days, that escaped from some system/planet.


At least that's what I tell myself, so I don't get upset :p

Not that you're wrong, because you're right. The root of this problem is with the Jedi Order being a army to begin with. 4-6 alludes to a much different sort of Jedi Order than 1-3 delivered.

And isn't it funny how the one Jedi (Sith) who wasn't a warrior was the 1 Jedi that conquered the universe? George Lucas, YOU FUCKING SUCK AT STAR WARS.

I had all my EU books in a box and hadn't picked up any of them in 10+ years.

Tried to read the Jedi Academy series (with the sun crusher) again.

Wow, talk about horrible writing and a bunch of cheese throwbacks to the movies

I can see why I liked it as a nerdy star wars kid but that shit actually sucks.

I agree wholeheartedly here. The Zahn trilogy with Thrawn is perfect Star Wars action; it is fucking assinine that was not made into a movie and that it is not being made now. It actually sends me into dizzying nerd rage if I focus on it for too long so I try not to think about it.

I agree with you here. I have been saying forever that i couldnt understand why Lucus would make those shitty Clone Wars cartoons when they could do 3 animated movies that encompass the Thrawn Trilogy.

I'm ok with Abrams. Star Trek 2009 was very entertaining, and 'Into Darkness' looks great, too. Hopefully he can deliver with Star Wars.

Abrams coming onboard pretty much confirms that Giacchino will be doing the score, too. That will be fucking awesome.

Ben Affleck would have been an interesting choice. His first three movies were excellent. Argo was one of my favourites of 2012, in fact. I reckon he could have done a great job with Star Wars.

Anyonenot Lucas can make a better film than the past 3. imo director isnt gonna matter nearly as much as the script. Crossing my fingers the CGI isnt over the top horrible and used sparingly.

As for Affleck, giving a guy with 0 experience in Sci-Fi/Fantasy the biggest Sci-Fi/Fantasy franchise of all time is the most boneheaded idea I've heard.
