Yeah, I hope they’re good. More options and competition is good for consumers. It’s not something I’ll get but I’d rather uninformed consumers get something good instead of junk. I hated my early days of prebuilt junk PCs

It'll be 2+ years before Intel has something that can even begin to compete with the flagship cards, but I think it'll bring midrange card prices down a lot.
This is true, but also depends on Intel not fucking up and ruining their image like AMD did. AMD still feels the initial resentment in the high end gaming space due to the quality of their drivers years ago.

And the driver is the crucial part here. Stability is one thing, but performance is nowadays mostly in the GPU drivers: Modern GPU's are highly parallel, and it is the software that distributes tasks to the hardware.

$999 down to $199, better act fast.

Add an AMD CPU, and Intel GPU and some Pepe stickers and a sweaty man will show up at 2am and hand you a plaque commemorating that you have WON THE INTERNET, FOREVER.

Just like 1080p kind of "capped" out with a what, 3070 if you were trying to get a super high refresh? I imagine the 40xx series is going to cap out 4k, yea? Like we are YEARS from 8k. I'm on a 3080ti and it runs 4k pretty well already. What's gonna happen? 4k at 240hz? I'm sure it'll come eventually.

And I think that while AMD was scrambling to try and fix their driver issues, nVidia was able to make huge strides in just overall UI and other systems like DLSS and Raytracing. Yes, I know, we all think they are jokes, and useless, but it's still something nVidia was able to get ahead on.

The intel GPUs are going to be bought by uninformed parents and young gamers that don’t know any better. They’ll be in cheap prebuilt Best Buy PCs.
They are targeting Nvidia 3070 levels of performance with their flagship card in the first generation. They have a 6nm process node, and experience getting lot of performance out of very little hardware power at the onboard GPU level, I think people are dramatically underestimating them. Even things like adaptive sync are technologies that were originally developed for laptop displays. Intel also has tons of experience at the chipset platform level, I think people are radically underestimating the possibilities here. Considering Nvidia has just decided to throw more and more watts at the problem, I think there's real potential for Intel to surprise people.

If intels first take on GPU was a card that rivaled the 3070 and cheaper? Shit, I mean this is what a 1440p high end card? Looking at the average steam system this would probabaly be better than 70% of what people are using right now for GPU. So if availability and the drivers are there and its price is lower? I say the have a winner.

Intel also has tons of experience
I sure hope so, but all that experience didn't really work out so well when AMD put pressure on them with Ryzen CPUs, or when Intel still couldn't deliver their own promised 7nm shrink.

Remember when Intel was so far up it's own ass that they tried to sell you a whole new processor architecture for 64bit, because that wouldn't be covered by cross-license agreements with AMD and VIA? And AMD said "fuck no", so they made their own, and Intel had to copy AMD's homework after the Intel version cratered? Good times.

Gamer GPU pie? LOL, Intel is going to sell about 40 units of their GPU. I'd be shocked if they ever reach 3% market share.
They're planning to sell them at a loss just to gain marketshare and they have millions to sell. Plus they're targeted at the mainstream market as the highest end card they have might rival a 3070 but the bulk of GPU sales are 3070 and below so I expect they'll sell tons it's just at what price.

I’d happily eat my words, I’m not invested in it either way. I’d love for there to be more competition and better prices. Intel has just had piss poor management and has been bleeding engineers, both of which doesn’t do much for my confidence is all.

How much you think the 3080 ti is gonna level off to, when the market saturation becomes evident?

I got a 3060 ti that I resold months ago, because I figured I'd hold out on a 3080 or 3080 ti

I don't think they'll go below $1200 for the ti, so if you see one you like for 1300 it might just be worth eating the 100 dollar effective loss, or waiting for the next generation...

Take the FE cards as the baseline, and so the 3080Ti FE is $1200. So one from EVGA, ASUS, Gigabyte, etc would probably be around $1300'ish.

Bleh maybe I'm just better off not gaming much anymore

I'd rather buy a soup'd up laptop to work outside my office, then put half that on a graphics card

Are all the newer 3080/3080Ti (other than FE) cards LHR? May explain some of the availability and price drop.

When i think of a build, DLSS and RT is never a factor - like - i only think about that crap when others bring it up. Since its conception ive only turned it on for like 10 min in cyberpunk.

I've been putting my 3080 to good use playing Dead Cells and Death's Door.

The LHR cards are significantly cheaper and available, but they're not all LHR. Based on what I'm seeing it's 70/30 LHR/normal these days.
