Have you fuckers not seen Sword Art Online?

I'm not plugging in, motherfuckers. You die in the game, you die in real life. And yeah, fuck that.

eventually oculus consumerversions will be a tablet/console itself (android likely). ideally their first cv would be this.. cept that tech : performance : $ doesn't add up yet.
hopefully steam's openvr will be not locked solely to their steampoweredplatform.

nintendo should hop on this and come up with what would be the new ds .. nintendodsvr. then again, i like the openess that exists now. won't be long until all devices will be merged with aux vr tech.

mmo wise.. alot of games are being retrofitted for vr and not designed from the ground up for them. things that are engaging are interactions with other players that involve your virtual body. (gdc talk mentioned this recently.. about hi5'ing another person and having your hand to your mouth when calling for the medic in tf2). for the general pop, a mmo/chatroom involving emotes / dressing up and other narcissitic traits would do well to begin with. a mmo that is not one game, but a hub i think would be better. an entrance to a movie cinema .. etc.

Does anyone else think a MMO targeted towards 1bil users is not likely to be something most rr members would be interested in?

It seems likely to be something like interactive farmville to me. Super casual shit, with tons of in game cash store crap, and facebook hording reams of data....

but yeah beyond that the possibility of VR + MMO makes my dick hard.

The only way I would play a Facebook VR MMO would be if I were allowed to attack/raid the pages of people I was unfriending.

instant 1 billion users
As long as its not that Japanese shit on the other page, sure~!

There is around 3 billion internet users in the world right now. Now account for how long its going to take for VR hardware, no matter how cost effective and good it is, to saturate a billion people. Just seems like an asinine figure to come up with and expect at such an early stage of development.

VR will eventually have an MMO, but for us as gamers to get a good user experience, this shit needs to take off like a rocket in other markets. If I could go shopping for clothes with an avatar that represents my exact measurements then I would log into it. For something as simple as that. (I hate going to the fucking mall.) Hell, it may not even seem reasonable, but people will log into it to go grocery shopping. Some people like to go to the Grocery store for the most random reasons. This would give them a good alternative to still go to the Grocery Store, but not have to go to fucking Walmart where you have to deal with trashy ass people. (Thank god for Ukrops!) There are probably a billion reasons why people are going to love to do this instead. Especially if its user friendly. Jobs and stores will close because of these changes (like whats already happening) and we will have other businesses start up to support the new methods. Local Delivery Services are only going to get bigger and bigger as this becomes more popular.

Then, you can expect a game to come out thats found that sweet spot for user friendliness and controls. Im just afraid its going to be hugely addictive like your first experience inside a graphical MMO. Many people would love to find a game that was addictive as EverQuest or w/e was when they first started playing it and I feel like this is going to be way worse. So bad that we'll have a real social problem with it.

We will all be dead/wearing diapers by the time VR is viable in the real MMO space. This thing sounds like some kind of goofy second life shit.

A billion person VR MMO? Do I hear a Facebook stock offer coming up? Seriously though, they must be stretching the concept of an "MMO" pretty fucking thin here. I mean, technically you can call Farmville an MMO I guess, but I doubt 99% of Farmville users know what MMO stands for or how to describe it, while at the same time, I have a felling that most MMO users like the good folks on this board would defiantly not classify Farmville as an MMO, let alone whatever the fuck it is the OR PR guys are thinking off.

And while sure, a true VR MMO might be interesting, I doubt it will get more than a few million subs, at the very best it will be of a similar size as WoW is/was, but that's really fucking stretching it - at least the first few iterations. After all, "regular" MMOs had been going on for over half a decade once WoW was released so I'd expect similar small scale (sometimes failed) attempts before we see anything in the millions of users, let alone billions.

And on top of all that, think of WoW back in the day with 12 odd million users, and all the god damn mouthbreathing trolling fuckups who could ruin your day who were playing then, now multiply that by 100. You're really scraping the barrel now. Yeah... I think I'll pass.

Why the confusion , this is Surrogates. Embrace it you fatties , you will look good now! Well in this new MMO you will , all hail ZUCKERBERG!!!

Eh , but in all seriousness....VR is a huge leap and many things need to be addressed to make it a viable piece of entertainment. I hope it succeeds , there is no limit to what can be done with VR , cant wait.

Porn is what drives a lot of different industries. It's why we have bluray instead of HD-DVD, among other things.

If some competitor jumps in and grabs the porn industry, they might have a chance against the Facebook machine.

This is stupid. Whatever or whenever this thing gets more concrete, we all know it'll be fucking terrible. a shitty fucking facebook game transformed into VR is still a shitty fucking facebook game.

once VR MMOs are real, there will be only be two kinds of players: those who get their cock sucked, and those who suck cock

which will you be
