I think they did a really superb job with the Italian Prima Donna chick who drives the van.

I mean I really felt for that compact ball of insanity. They hinted at it a few times in season 1. The payoff payed off. Up until the very end of that story I thought she was going to jail for mail fraud -- not for being a crazy person.

I finished this up over the weekend. You guys really hated it, but I thought it was pretty good. Better than the first season. I too thought the first episode was awful and I didn't even want to continue watching. Piper pissed me off and the new prison pissed me off. It was a really off-putting premiere.

Did some people seriously not put two and two together in Miss Rosa's backstory episode? After she and kid steal that money from the nurse and then she smells it later practically phoned it in. It's also why I thought the final scene was lame. Were we not supposed to figure that out until that scene? Her hitting Vee was awesome though.

I also don' get the pure Piper hate. She isn't that bad. I actually liked her way more this season. More cold.

I think piper being better is directly related to very little Alex plotline.

Donna wrecks this show.

One thing is piper said she has 8 months left. I think I could take an 8 month nap so that's sorta...

IF the show keeps going past season 3, I think season 4 will be a couple episodes of her getting out, shacking back up with Alex, then the both of them getting popped and going back in to continue the prison drama.

Not really. She was placed in a very minimum security prison and got out a few months before her time was even up. They've obviously taken some liberties to add drama.

Finished the second season. I don't know what's in season three but I hope Alex's drugbuddy kills Piper's friends and family (her brother can stay) and gets Piper sent to max security, then Piper becomes the female Heisenberg and plots her revenge from max security prison.

I feel like the show wants to be good and interesting but is dragged down by an incessant need to cater to women who want petty first world problem drama. The jew and Michael Jackson added nothing at all to season 2.

Just ignore Piper's story arc. The good stuff is the inter-relationship and backstories of the other prisoners, and guards. Thankfully the show has a huge well fleshed out ensemble cast so they can easily fill episodes without focusing on Piper.

I was not expecting to like Caputo as much I do now. It's nice to have an honest good guy who's trying to do his best. It helps avoid seeing the guards as the bad guys versus the women who are the actual bad guys.

I really don't get the Piper hate. Last season, sure. Her, Alex, and Larry were just awful. But this season (outside of episode 1) I thought Piper wasn't just tolerable, but somewhat enjoyable. And Larry wasn't that bad either. By the end I was a little worn down on his relationship with the best friend, but for the first 6 or 7 episodes it was good.

I agree. Piper was way better this season than last. Less petty shit. She's used to prison life now. I mean, wasn't that the point of Soso? To show how different she is now compared to how she used to be?

The Diaz pregnancy is another thing I hate about the show. She's so annoying and abusive toward Bennet that I can't empathize with anything she says or does. Beyond the bits with Mendez that whole storyline added nothing but boredom.

The Diaz pregnancy is pretty shit all around. You see guards in the showers. No one notices that Diaz is pregs? And with the whole setting up pornstache thing last season, no one thought to have her tested?

It's only amusing in the way of showing just how off-kilter that shit would be... but yeah, it's a garbage plot. I mean the mexican girls are blackmailing him at the start of the season but if you think about it for just a moment you realize they really don't have anything to blackmail him with. But all it is is an excuse to create a sympathetic prison guard and writing the Diaz character into a corner. I wish they'd done it with the fish lookin girl instead. I'll miss ol' fishface.

Maybe beercan will hire her back.

Ok, so that is one of the storylines that I absolutely hated. Everything about the Diaz thing was awful. "If you loved me, you'd go to prison for fucking me." How in the hell does that make any sense at all?

Yeah that was really stupid. Go to jail so this kid can have two felons for parents instead of one. This kind of decision making makes it pretty clear why this bitch is in prison.

I binge watched s2 on Netflix and it was mostly pretty bad : most of the backplots are ghetto cliche stuff, womynall around and far fetched stories. There is production values but right now it's IMO a subpar Netflix show. When House of Cards did a quite good 2nd season, OiTNB lacks real depth and quality writing and relies too much on fanservice.

I don't know how you can say the show lacks real depth. It goes out of its way to dive deeper into the history of nearly every major character.

If you are referring to the actual story the show is telling I sort of agree, but it is a show that is more about the characters themselves as opposed to what is going on at any given time. That is why the overall plot of each season is pretty terrible.
