Anyone honestly expecting a refund or expecting backers to receive anything along those lines are almost certainly acting out of emotion because those guys just fucked over a lot of people. They're also still bringing in bank and Yogscast in particular has some shitty promotion where if you want to feature your game on their channel and then your game starts selling more, they get a percentage of sales. They seem like a bunch of dipshits who, like Brad, didn't want to scam anyone in the beginning but ultimately in the end did. The difference is they more than doubled their goal, too, so they got all the money.
Now they are going to do whatever little minuscule thing they can do by pulling a few strings and asking some favors to give backers
somethingin return.
It all goes back to what you said, a great deal of these Kickstarter guys and indie developers in general don't have a very sound idea of how to run a fucking business. I'm very, very selective in who I'd donate to and it mostly involves industry vets who've had and understand the publishing side (ugly and good side of it) and just want to do their own thing.
These idiots were promising the world and had no clue as to what they were doing. There were tons of red flags people ignored and nobody should have felt secure handing over $10, much less $10,000.
I love that the Yogs dude said they'd five further details but there was no real value in explaining the money situation. Fuckers got written a $150,000 check with nothing to show for (sounds awfully similar doesn't it). And what fool gave a dude $35,000 flat out with no strings attached? Crazy.
I still like Kickstarter. Some swear it off, but when magic comes out like Shovel Knight and Divinity: Original Sin, it's still got some appeal. Just choose wisely.
