I was using their fact, it's not set in stone so who knows? I shouldn't have spoken in absolutes. More of an assumption on my part. I'm really not their PR guy lol and have no info in this regard. I'm actually going to back off these kind of predictions, they always blow up in my face anyway lol
White knighting dumb shit generally doesn't go over too well on these forums.

Part of the problem, and it's not even isolated to shyster developers, is that the definitions of alpha and beta keep changing. We see closed betas as basically pre-launch previews. Pre-alpha as a made up thing to make gamers feel they're important and have early access that the gamers just use a free preview. Beta becomes less about a test and more about getting free QA during long term development. Alpha is really beta as it's closed and NDAed and people are actually there from the outside to help what used to be primarily an inside job.

It's already so muddled with MMO development that I see Pantheon not having very clear benchmarks in development like alpha and beta. It'll just plod on with slow, incremental development with a lot of community help, whether it's testing, QA or even community helping pitch in on development itself. Eventually they'll allow access to anyone and everyone that pays. Then at some point after that they'll announce a retail launch with all the 'early access' bullshit. The only real benchmark will be when characters get wiped before 'real' access to the game.
Yeah, you end up with a small handful who want to actually contribute and for the rest it's early access.

I don't see 100,000 in the most optimistic light possible. As Brad said, 30-50 k is probably about all they will have within 3 months which may be fine. Brad isn't paying big money to anyone he doesn't have to. That will extend to CS and other services after the game releases. We do remember SOE CS right? I'm sure Brad hasn't learned any different since then. And let's not even act like this game will get real updates. EQ had issues for years that were never fixed and the only real updates were a flurry of expansions you had to buy. This would be lucky to even get to that point.

This obviously will not end well which is why most of us are still involved.

Edit- There is no way you want to be accurate in this thread Convo. At least own up to your shilling. At one point, yes, you were pretty honest but your attacks and random messages that were just assumptions but worded as facts can't be covered up as spreading facts. Maybe layering shit and hoping no one notices past the sudden stench...

people are trolling me, I'm trolling back.. that's what we do around here. When it comes to the game, I'll let the project do the talking. I feel good about the place they are in right now. I think the relaunch is very professional. I'm sorry some of you disagree with it, but I'm happy with the recent content and looking forward to seeing more. Call me whatever, I'm pulling for this project.

Why would Brad or even anyone would even want to develop a traditional MMO anymore is beyond me.

I think MMOs is an outdated genre with high development and maintenance costs with high risk rewards. Even Blizzard is scaling back on WoW and concentrating on games like HOTS, Hearthstone and Overwatch which heavily leans towards in game purchases.

You are getting 'freemium' games like Hearthstone which is rolling inabout $20 mill a monthand even a shit game like Game of War apparently pulling in a cool$1 mill a day (wtf?!).

Brad should just scrap the Pantheon idea and make a EverQuest card game based on the Hearthstone model. I would probably play the shit out of that.

I retract my earlier comment about 1/4 Rescorla
haha =P

Stick to your guns buddy.

But I actually do have a desire to talk about this game. I love the old school ideas and this thread would be a great place for it but it's getting impossible. Partly my fault as well. I've done my fair share of trolling.

What game?

Also every thread in the mmorpg section eventually has endless discussions about "old school ideas" , usually always brought up by the same group of people(those ones stuck in 1999). Hell that's one thing you can almost 100% guarantee to read about in any mmo thread. It's in this thread multiple times. It comes and goes because there is no game to talk about yet.

There actually was a decent conversation going with the pantheon difference stuff.Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen - Game - The Pantheon Differencethe perception system. Somehow we just got back to poop throwing.

I'm not one of those guys that derail threads with old school ideas, I never was. I keep in context to the games we are discussing. I don't follow many games here so I can't say it's been issue for a few years now?
