No that is just a game in development. And it hasn't even been that long. You are all retards, we have been over this before. Also Star Citizen is going to release too. And when both games are out I'm going to search for every post from every one of you tards who said they will never release, and quote them constantly.

Hasn't been that long? Pantheon was announced three fucking years ago! They're still years away from completing a game that will look like it was made in 2001, if it comes out at all. Same goes for Star Citizen, except Star Citizen is even worse because they had the money to make a AAA MMO and have produced jack fucking shit! Do the world a huge favor and put your head under water until the bubbles stop.

No, because we aren't unemployed 16-year-olds anymore.
I am so sick of hearing this bullshit, Most EQ players werent 16 year old unemployed kids. I was in my early thirties, had 3 kids and a full time job and I still found PLENTY of play time.

Fine. 16 yr old unemployed kids or mid 30 family men who enjoy video games more than their families

What a fucking moron, you do know millions of people have time consuming hobbies but still spend plenty of quality time with their families. I mean EQ isnt the only hobby that takes time to participate in.

Some people seem to be pretty impressed with what they saw in two hours of streamed gameplay. I didn't see any of it, but I know what vaporware is and I know what they would need to show me to make a positive impression from my not gullible point of view.

How many classes did they showcase in great detail in those two hours? How many classes did they absolutely not show at all, not even in the slightest? What level range did those two hours of gameplay cover? Was it levels 1 to 3? Was it level 5? How many zones did they visit in those two hours? Did they run all the way across a continent, or did they stay in one single zone the whole time?

Two hours of demo content isn't even a drop in the bucket in an actual MMORPG. Someone who doesn't know what they're doing can play the Diablo 2 demo for two hours and not complete all the content. How much time would it take one of us to finish the "two hours" of content that was shown in the Pantheon demo?

To be fair, they were very clear that the demos they have shown thus far were to display core mechanics and really general gameplay stuff. They have been very open about how much "extrapolation" they have left to do in order to flesh out the details and provide adequate content for release.

So while they were displaying core mechanics, did they show any evidence that they have more than one class started yet? How many mob models did they have attack animations implemented for? Did the mobs do anything above and beyond basic auto-attack? Like I said, I didn't see any of the footage at all, I'm just taking shots in the dark based on my own low expectations.

Also: I'm going to interpret any lack of response as a confirmation that they didn't show a goddamn thing worth talking about yet. Details are important. Details are everything.

Yeah, definitely more than one class. Several mob models... maybe you should just watch the vid yourself. It will answer your questions.

If you want a summary of what I took from it, and I can say succinctly, there isn't much worth talking about yet. If you aren't an EQ fan looking for a reskin, there is literally nothing worth talking about.

If you are an EQ-nerd type looking for that style of game (which I probably am), then the vids were useful because they showed us:

1. It's pretty clear the designers honestly intend to try and replicate EQ- this isn't going to be a bait and switch situation where they try to lure in the old EQ fans but also try and make changes they think will appeal to "newer" players- essentially ruining the game for everyone. They seem genuinely content to target a niche audience and see what happens.

2. They haven't completely wasted their time in development. They obviously have a long way to go, but (considering the mammoth task of building an mmo) they have also made decent progress. This is obviously largely due to the shortcuts that Unity provides, but I think most people (myself included) don't give a shit about that part as long as we get a good game out of it.

3. The VR team has at least some people that seem competent, driven, and passionate. That doesn't mean they will succeed, but the inverse would almost certainly mean they fail.
All in all, I still give this game about a 70% chance or seeing release to the general public and a 30% chance of making it more than two years after release. Obviously, those numbers are just based on what has been publicly released about the game, so who knows.

Convo, my brother, you know I've been a soldier for the cause from the jump, but I'm weary. It's almost 2017. I started posting in this thread in 2013. They're still a few years out from having something even remotely playable, if it comes out at all. I'm honestly not as impressed as others are about what they're showing. It looks like it came straight out of 1999. I know graphics aren't everything, but sweet fuck all, they're something. I'm just really hoping at this point they can put together a solid, playable demo, and take this to a major studio to get the funding they need to make a solid game. If they were just looking to create a simple video game, it would be possible with a shoe string budget and a skeleton crew, but a MMO is another animal altogether.

And? Most big games take at least 3 years to make, usually they slip into 4. And early Pantheon development was a few people working part time with no funding. Get a grip.

They're still years away from completing a game that will look like it was made in 2001, if it comes out at all.

How many hours a week do you guys spend playing games? I'm curious. Seems like people still log a ton of time gaming just more in 2-4 hour windows.

Right, because no one could possibly have a time consuming hobby and still find time for a Job and family...The absolute stupidity of your post makes me wonder if you actually might have some kind of mental disability.
