They owed us a mea culpa for going dark. Don't reboot your damn game and act like you're not rebooting the game when we call you out on it. That said, it's very obvious they needed to reboot the project, and it's also fairly obvious they are making some progress after doing so. All that being said, they are putting all their chips into this PA5 basket. If this playable demo version of the "new" game doesn't result in a partnership with a publisher, they are likely going belly up. That has always been the reality for Project Faerthale though, and they've mostly been open about that aspect. I'd say it's 50/50 this game folds in the next six months. If it's still going after that, there's probably a publisher deal involved and a likelihood of launching at some point.

This is the beginning of the end. They’re finally admitting that they’re completely fucked without some outside investor dumping a ton of money into their incredibly poorly managed project. This is the first step towards the ultimate conclusion of this disasterpiece which is them shutting down and trying to frame it as “investors couldn’t see how amazing the work we did was! Investors didn’t believe in the fan base!”

The writings been on the wall that they needed cash for a while now. The only person that could have possibly sold this idea to an investor or publisher is dead and when he was still alive it was still a massive task. The inexperience of the team, lack of funding and general shit show this has been thus far was always going to come back and bite VR in the ass. Making a subscription based MMO as your first game is beyond stupid - walk before you can run.

I think their best hope is Amazon. Maybe Smedley gets sentimental about Pantheon being Brad's last game ever. Bezos played EQ1, and has more money than God. New World and the LOTRO micro-transaction MMO they are making are not going to be direct competitors for Pantheon. There's at least a chance Amazon just buys VR and lets these guys make their game. The whispers have always been that if they can deliver a playable demo that doesn't suck, Amazon will pick it up with Smedley being a hands-off overseer. Looks like at some point we'll see if that was all wishful thinking or not.

Its coming out. You people are rustled beyond what I can put into words about a classic style MMO coming out. To be expected from a screechin dad guild having a who can be the most casual contest. It has nothing to do with Brad being involved or not as some suspected, and is now proven.
