Possibly lesson learned and this time around will either not directly interact or learned to interact better this time around ? Likely doesn't go well to piss off the actual funding folks in the Kickstarter world.

Edit:

Also someone last night I think mentioned make every NPC attackable. Forgot to comment on this being something not only would I want , but make sure it's not hard coded to to where you cannot attack your own faction. It happened to me and the horror of that , combined with the amusement I got when it was someone else , of speaking to the Necro Guild Head Honcho , and seeing that red loading text come up after they did not appreciate my accidental attempted coup with my dagger stab, makes it an amusing side mechanic.

I prefer class diversity over sameness. My ranger had a very unique skill. If I remember correctly, it was called Die At The Drop of a Hat.

I've asked this question for ages and still haven't gotten an answer: why can't I attack my own guards in WoW?
Because it would be exploitable. They don't have the faction system of eq, therfore there is no repercussions. Also because of the way you interact with npcs.

Yes it's dumb. That's the problem with hard factions and that system.

I'm really nice irl but a total dick on the internet. I think this is common. Faggot.

P.S. You still play SC2?

I want the game to have a real faction system but just allowing stupid shit like fat fingering an attack at the guildmaster is kinda dumb. There needs to be a balance between freedom to switch factions and letting players know when they are about to kill someone who will massively fuck their faction.

That can be done by expanding and making the /con system more intuitive. Do it immersively in-game, not through hard restrictions or pop-up dialog boxes.

You couldn't "accidentally massively fuck your faction". Taking a swipe at the guildmaster resulted in your death and laughter of the folks around you at your corpse as you slunk back , and you'd have to kill a favorable faction member many many times , to actually affect your faction.

I'm just all for less rails the better , and was using this as an example of one of the truly unintended , but still memorable things that could happen.

Every game designed today thinks you need rubber corners and safety mats every step of the way.

I would guess that Blizzard decided that the several hundred thousand instances of players accidentally attacking their own guards, dying, and becoming frustrated/quitting/etc outweighed the benefit of the freedom of attacking your own faction. Lore-wise, there was/is much less ambiguity to the sides and factions at that level. Following on from earlier comments and my own, WoW was in many cases explicitly built to address what many people felt were shortcomings in EQ. Travel times in EQ suck? Flight paths. Melees can't bind themselves? Not here. Quests hard to find? ->!<- Too much downtime? Say no more. Only certainly classes can solo? No longer.Sitting in one place grinding MOBs is boring? Here, we do it quest-style.

It's was a much smoother, player- and casual-friendly curated experience for the overwhelming majority of people who had gone through the EQ turn-stile and dropped out. And it made Blizzard boat loads of cash for a decade.

Obviously, there is a decidedly engaged core of folks who think the pendulum has swung too far in that direction. I don't know if I am one of the Anointed calling for staring at the spell-book until level 35 and forced grouping at level 7 but I think there is an opportunity here for a great game that once again speaks to all of us posting in this thread.

As others have said, if a mob is holding a certain weapon or wearing certain armor, then that is what it should drop.

Also, clone the zone Unrest. Not sure why, but I loved that zone.

Trains in Blackburrow and KC were epic!
Runnyeye also, as there would be amusing and epic for the medding group at the top , especially that one AFK group member. I think it was possible to literally pull the dungeon up to that corner. Truly epic. And amusing.
