Since Aradune signed up here, has there gone more than say..2 minutes where this thread isn't at the top of the forum?

We don't even have a kickstarter yet! The best thing about him signing up is I can just skim quickly looking for his avatar to see if I should stop and read.
This was moving pretty fast before he got here. He was reading anyway just not posting.. It's bc the info is about to drop! All threads get like this when we have impending info dump.

Same as always 50 people want to theorycraft and speculate. 5 people want to troll.

today is good. I'd forgotten about wow trinkets it has been so long since I've played. something I'd like to see in pantheon. Trinkets could be very cool if well done.
To this day it is the only gear in WoW that remains interesting. The only gear that can have a impact on your character large enough that it might even change your playstyle a bit. I fully support items like that in any mmo.

No, I just think anyone who prioritizes having some stupid fucking pet following them around, or holidays, should just gtfo and go play some other game that gives you all this shit.

"Dark and adult-themed MMO... BUT... WE HAVE THE HOLIDAY ARMADILLO! EVERYONE REJOICE!" Get fukt. Put that in the game and at least give me the ability to burn every snowman I see and ruin the holidays.

A couple people make comment about holidays in MMOs and you get stuck on stupid. You've chosen your hill to die on.

I think some of you need to understand the differences between setting a priority and random chit chat that's irrelevant to anyone's true concerns. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that tad isn't going to swear this game off if Santa doesn't come to Pantheon on Christmas. Seriously, between you and Quaid, the shitty posts are piling up.

If Brad is just here for PR purposes, that's his prerogative. However, he SHOULD be listening because you've got a community whose members have been playing MMOs closing in on two decades now. We don't have answers for the next 300mil+ value-menu MMO. We don't even want that. We don't even have the solutions to implement what we what - but we KNOW what we want. And I'm guessing many players across the spectrum who have never played EverQuest or even heard of this forum would want the same mechanics if they were exposed to them.

We all mostly agree that the genre needs an overall increase in difficulty, risk, player accountability and responsibility for their actions (more community-focused features), a focus on the world AS A world, harder travel, a stiffer death penalty, dungeons that are actually dungeons, a slower game, class design that celebrates uniqueness, and itemization that isn't so laughably formulaic. We ALL agree on these, but we disagree on the extents.

I keep railing home the consequences of one design on another - how a SoW buff is affected by giving players flight paths or a lax death penalty. I want Brad to focus on how every design mechanic in some way affects another, and that he has to build the world and the classes with this in mind, with BOTH in mind on each other.

The time spent typing paragraphs here could be wasted and fall on deaf ears. Maybe. If Brad is smart, then he'll listen. If he's making the game he's claiming, then we're the audience. If it turns out it's a smoke & mirrors ruse and we're slopped up another supersize WoW value meal, then it'll likely plop down the toilet like the shit it is, along with all the other value meals we've been shitserved over the last decade. But I can't say I didn't try: that I didn't describe what I think this game needs at a high level to make it a success FOR US, not for a 300+ million budget game whose real target are the shareholders, executives who are looking for another revenue stream to buy a 3rd yacht, and tiny timmys, soccer mom sallys who want to login to a FB game for an hour in the evening before their favorite sitcom. If that's Brad's goal, he knows he's not getting us, and his endeavors here will likely fail.

I am hopeful. I don't consider this wasted time. Yet.

Yea that was some really weird rage for a feature that is pretty low on all of our lists of features to launch with.. It's a pretty bad time to get RiCkshawed too. Shit hits tomorrow most likely and we will have a ton of relevant information to discuss.

Thing is holidays events don't have to be against the immersion and logic of the world. It makes perfect sense to have a festival for the coming of spring and one for the coming of winter, one during summer and one during fall and then whatever you want to put inbetween. As long as it doesn't have a white bearded fat guy on a sled, why not. If anything it adds to the world and lore if it has its own customs and beliefs, even if they do happen to be at the same time as ours. Unless you design your world with all the races being on the verge of extinction and shit like that, it makes perfect sense for the people to party just like the people had festivities in the shit hole that was medieval times, inbetween getting sent to random wars and dying of hunger or hitting their thumb with a hammer.

I agree about holidays and pets: they're not for this game as we perceive them. The people in this world are too busy worrying about surviving than putting up decorations in Orgrimmar for x-mas. Eventually, if they want to do something like this, it has to be within the context of the world to make sense: some ritual/sacrifice celebrating a god, etc.

Ya shoulda made a joke about only having half a life!

Chime, chime: I like pets and trinkets and shit. Not a priority, but adds a little fun to a game. Everyone talks about useful things, like jboots and stuff like that. But I also like collecting things that aren't even all that useful just for the 'wtf is that' factor in a game, which is what I would consider minion style pets. As long as they're lore-relevant and not cash-shop related, I'd like things that aren't strictly leveling/power/achievement to spend time on in the game. And not just an achievement-style collection-list where you're ticking off boxes like it's homework. More like easter eggs and rare, useless things to laugh about or screw around with when bored.

One thing I really really hope is that Brad realizes that underwater content in every single game has been absolutely terrible, and he avoids it like the plague.

I know, right, it's just not realistic and ruins my immersion. I mean, there's no time in the history of history when, during the shit time of year, as people are starving and freezing and dying from small pox does a community decide to band together for some level of festival, holiday or celebration. And it clearly doesn't fit this, very completed game that we have full information on, nor the people of the game as dictated by the full depth of lore we've been exposed to.

Moving while casting. If it's not in, the game will be a design embarrassment and doomed to fail. Is there anyone on Earth who doesn't think moving while casting is absolutely necessary?

Sorry, we need a Kedge.
What makes you say that? Kedge was an exercise in frustration every time I was in there. The mob patching and player movement was just awful.

Subsequent games haven't handled underwater content much better, either, in my experience. GW2 was probably the best... And even that made me want to pull my teeth out with pliers.

Lol, Dumar's over the top ' this is only for badasses'! And only a few badasses on this forum are smart enough to tell Brad how to design his game! Shit cracks me up.
