Eh, the ss were okay, but as always it's too little.Posted two screenshots that contain the 35 dollar unity asset packages ;/
I like 'em. I'm interested enough to want to make a character and walk around in that area.
There's nothing wrong with using Unity's asset packages to start building the environments. They provide an excellent base to work from, and it makes development more economical. If anything, this is a hopeful sign. But, just like others have said, I WANT MOAR!Posted two screenshots that contain the 35 dollar unity asset packages ;/
Actually, IMO, the problem is compelling and original content. You can do a lot of great things with only high level programming in Unity. There's also a large selection of middleware including MMO netcode. The MMO community has already developed server expertise via emulators. The pieces are out there for someone to put together.Problem is always engineering. It's the same in the actually industry from what I understand, actual coding and engine manipulation is a pretty difficult skill set--it's been growing as things like Unity become more use friendly but it's still a skill set that's in demand. But hell, I'd work on a game for free if it was during my off season--I sold kits for house rules at the hobby shop all the way through college, I always enjoyed making board games/table tops more than even playing them (And I love playing them).
Screen looks more than good enough for an small niche MMO! Yes, those are bought assets, but they are high quality, look at the video from the asset store. I dont have any problem if they would use those assets in the final game.My bad 75Asset Store
Contested content means 100 people server caps!Wonder when someone is going to ask who is going to build the server side portion of this for unity, cause I know best ones out now crash at around 1k users
LOLRerolled Kickstarter to buy Unity Engine ($1500) and some assets ($50,000) to make our own game. Anyone here a network and systems engineer? Anyone know how to code in some classes?
Pyros will design the classes, I will do project management, Lithose will be in charge of.. something. Tuco will bring the donuts and a_skeleton_03 will be in charge of trolling the kickstarter pleding $10,000 and taking it away once a day.

I think we should all do our own kickstarters and see who gets the most with their pitch. Then we go full bore supporting that weiner. Same here. This shouldn't even be a criticism, especially since we know they'll add their own touches for branding and marketing purposes later.Screen looks more than good enough for an small niche MMO! That's more fucking like it. Looks good and shows they are working on an actual game.
I can code, but I'll be better as the gameplay design lead.Rerolled Kickstarter to buy Unity Engine ($1500) and some assets ($50,000) to make our own game. Anyone here a network and systems engineer? I always wanted to get to the point where people can make their own MMOs from stock assets like old school MUDs. There's money in that I'm sure of it. I used to build MUDs back in the day. I even built a dragonlance MMO from scratch, I had done the whole world and plenty of zones. I think I build the Tower of Whatever (big paladin area? I can't remember DL very well) and had some cool scripted encounters. Ooooh memories. I think I was 17.

That's harsh! I feel at least 7% of my posts have been constructive.Motion to instantly ban all 14ers from this thread hereafter. I guess Brad can stay. For now.
