Kickstarter projects tend to pick up momentum at the end. Elite:Dangerous collected over two million a year ago, a quarter of which in the last three days. That was on an IP that was old when EQ was new, and in a genre that has not had any AAA titles for 20 years. Maybe that is actually a strength. But if anything, Brad & co can see what Frontier did on their campaign for ideas.

Yup, I know that some people wait until the very last day to pledge. I don't know why someone would wait until all of the good rewards are gone, but just like buying something on eBay, some people wait until there's only a few hours left.

Yea but I don't see a $400k push in the last couple days.

The hope was to be within 20-25% of the 800k with 72 hours to go. Lots of KS, particularly those who are close to funding but not there yet, get that level of bump in that stretch. With this, of course, the danger is not being that close. That being said, I imagine the first thing they will do is either 1) re-KS with a lower goal; 2) set up their own funding website and encourage folks to donate directly.

No really I am sure if everyone keeps hoping hard enough Tinkerbell will come back to life and this kickstarter will get funded.

Simple math says it's going to be even hard to reach that goal (25%). There are 17 days left. The project needs to average about 17k a day to even sniff 600k with 3 days to go. Right now it's a struggle to get to 10k a day.

He was also responsible for the itemization debacle in EQ2 Velious, no?

If Midas touch turns things to gold, Salim is the polar opposite. Salim touch = turns to complete shit.
And he will have his hands all over Pantheon. With that said, maybe Brad can help turn it into black gold, Texas T, liquid....uh might be going to far here even in the thread of hope.
I don't think you guys have been following the developer interviews very closely, if at all. Salim is one of the big proponents of sticking to old-school EQ, arguably more-so than Brad. Salim is very knowledgeable about EQ; classes, mechanics, etc.

I'm glad he's on the team.

I agree. A lot of what he has said in Interviews has been spot on for me. His focus is in the right place.

I have to agree with this. Plus I'm seeing Salim almost every night on P99.

Quote from Brad, taken from the comments section of his interview with Boogie2988:

"In a nutshell, our publisher was Microsoft and we had a deal with them to make a new AAA MMO.For about four years everything was going well and we were almost ready to start some early alpha testing of the game. Then there was a regime change at Microsoft, with the VP of their games devision leaving the company along with just about everyone who worked for him. The new group that was assigned to our project wasn't interested in doing an MMO. They accused us of being late and over budget. They wanted to push us out the door and launch the game one year early.
Really, am I the only one who sees the big issue here? In essence, MS has been paying for this team for four years and they aren't even in alpha?

Also, this ignores the fact that according to several insiders, MS had been presented with fake tech demos and so thought the project was much farther along than it was at the time.

It doesn't sound like they falsely accused them of being late and over budget. It sounds like they WERE late and over budget.

Meanwhile, after building a reputation for being late and wasting money leading his last project, Brad comes to the community with a completely lackluster Kickstarter with zero content and work done, promising an amazing game.. in about three years provided we give him our money today.

I'm all for second chances, but c'mon now, man.

I might be able to believe the proc rate being a bit less than 2/m, but I'm going to need proof believing anywhere near 1.5.

2 per minute at 255 is commonly accepted if you search google. Project 1999 uses 2 per minute at 255 dex, and they do a great deal of research on these things. If you have proof, they'd love to see it.
Almost everything I come up with in google refrences the research done at the Steel Warrior and The Steel Warrior posts the proc rates as follows:

For Main hand weapons:
105 DEX = 1 proc/min
205 DEX = 1.5 proc/min
305 DEX = 2 proc/min

For offhand weapons:
105 DEX = .5 proc/min
205 DEX = .75 proc/min
305 DEX = 1 proc/min

All inclusive weapon proc rate listing - The Arena

Also looking over your parses it looks like some of your tests were very close to 1.5/.75 numbers. What you see in the higher numbers is probably RNG variance because procs are very random and can sometimes proc many times in a short duration or not at all for several minutes. The longer the test the more it trends to 1.5/.75.

Don't worry kids.

Even if Brad's Gold Show doesn't get funded, he'll start another one for 400k-600k.

Then you'll get to see his tits. But no anal, no squirting.

This list is everything wrong with MMO's. Jesus christ people, just pick a good weapon that looks cool and kicks ass. The minute this thotbot shit started is when crap started going downhill. When we are whipping out our engineering calculator to determine weapon stats its time to just stop playing. The game is supposed to be fucking fun right?

I personally loved all of the mathematics involved with playing a warrior in EverQuest. In other games I really didn't like the warrior near as much because it's all spam a bunch of buttons instead of letting the math do the work.
