Just like their alleged solutions or designs for dealing with 25+ year old MMO problems: "can't talk about it". Riiiight.
Any company interested in acquiring Visionary Realms would likely only be doing it to acquire their debt, not their IP. There are certain very specific financial scenarios where this is desirable for the purchasing entity. Over six and a half years after the Kickstarter failed and they have no product you can download from their website. They have no persistent early access you can subscribe to or pay for to continue funding. They have exactly nothing in the hands of the general public and they have recently stated they're going to have to re-do much of the zone work they have demonstrated since 2015, due to climbing. They freely admit zone work is what takes them the longest. Huzzah?
Fully embracing hubris, they are proud to be in pre-Alpha for at least the past 6 years, and refuse to give any further dates of any kind. (not even for specific subsequent phases within a pre-alpha release version) They're that bad at scheduling.
Since the end of 2018, they've also lost at least 4 of their most skilled / talented coders, programmers, developers or designers. In a team of less than 20, that's not trivial.
At this point, just like Vanguard, the only hope this project has of seeing an actual launch in any reasonable time frame is if someone forces them into the traditional funding milestone model of video game development. Otherwise, they'll just keep passing the time and producing nothing. They had a third chance and burned it.
