You are right, that is a denial of service. Light the Butlersignal Commissoner!Of course, people gonna complain that it's denying them the right to play the game

LOL that is one of the things that really turns me off to EQN. Sorry but humans should be blind at night, get a torch or GLS or make vision spells. Now having said that, newb towns or towns in general should have lots of light sources around them so that you can see ok, but once you venture out into the world, if you dont have a light source, too bad.You are right, that is a denial of service. Heh, lets make it interesting...after you kill a boss a chest spawns and you have a riddle or puzzle to solve, if you fuck up the chest vanishes with all the loot.@mkopec enough with loot pi?atas. How about a game where you accept that you're not going to get everything you want when you want it.
Thats not the point. I can accept that. But waiting in lines in a video game? No fucking thanks.@mkopec enough with loot pi?atas. How about a game where you accept that you're not going to get everything you want when you want it.
Aradune can you please read my suggestion I just sent you regarding this? My name is Dan.What do you guys feel about a spell/ability system where you have a fixed number of slots, so even if you know 100 spells, you can only mem a few at a time. Or, do you prefer the 'as long as I have mana' I can cast what I want?
A modern MMO should be able to spot and track farmers and gold sellers. Agree theye suck.Thats not the point. I can accept that. But waiting in lines in a video game? No fucking thanks.
Be at the mercy of the local Chinese farmer? No thanks. This leads to all kinds of shitty problems. Look, we all know you want a reskinned EQ of 1999 but some of that shit just wont fly in 2017.

There was 20 things to do while waiting. I used to port people around for coin, work on faction, work on the coldain ring quest, craft, quad in CS, take a break and check my screen every few minutes, or just find another group. You act as if you just had to sit in the corner and wait. And even if you did have to just sit and wait, hell, sitting at KC zone line was adventure enough. Also, how do you address the no instance thing you guys are all vying for? With no instances, you basically have to ramp up the content. I mean im all for social dungeons and all that, but this day and age I dont think I have the stomach to do waht we did in 99. Wait lists, etc.
How bout something that AO did back in the day. Have social dungeons with a soft cap, and then another instance of the entire dungeon spawns.
I think that having a fixed number of slots just creates the illusion of choice. When you are so limited by the slots there will always be a best build to accomplish something. It causes everyone of the same class to be the same as each other. I feel like if you have access to all your abilities at once that you have a chance to play differently than someone of the same class. Look at Vanguard for example, you have 40-50 abilities you can use at anytime, this causes bad players to be bad and good players to be good. Not all the abilities are desirable at every moment in time and choosing when to use them separates the good from the bad in terms of decision making and skill in my opinion. I don't want a game where there is an optimal setup ability wise for each fight and if you stray from that path you are playing sub-optimally. I prefer it when the choice that lies with the players is when to use their abilities rather than being limited by some design structure that tries to simplify the gameplay for us unnecessarily. What do you guys feel about a spell/ability system where you have a fixed number of slots, so even if you know 100 spells, you can only mem a few at a time. Back in 1999. Fast forward to 2017 where you have 5000 Chinese farmers willing to work for $0.25/hr to farm that shit non stop. good luck waiting. Look, Im all for things like they were, but you guys are nuts if you think a loot system like EQ had back in 1999 would work in todays games. And even then, in 1999 the RMT was beginning to spring up and people farming shit for a living. entire companies worth millions of dollars sprung up because of farming in EQ.There was 20 things to do while waiting. You make a good point, it seems many things won't be able to go back to the way they were.Back in 1999. So lets brainstorm here and think up of some shit that will solve the problem of farmers, etc.. while preserving some of that magic back in 1999. I do like the idea that someone had about introducking instanced areas witin dungeons like SWTOR had with their solo quest zones/phases, whatever.
Actually, many players in VG and i am sure other games come up with Macros to min/max their chars and then share that info with others, so many players end up with Identical macros doing the same thing. The only thing that separates 2 people of the same class are one might have a rare dropped spell the other doesnt, or clickies/other gear. Granted not all use macros but many, many do.I think that having a fixed number of slots just creates the illusion of choice. Not a very impressive first post, Dan.Aradune can you please read my suggestion I just sent you regarding this? My name is Dan.
No because that would mean all wow kiddies would have to do is bombard Brad with emails full of titty shots asking him to make his game like wow and it would be considered acceptable. Good mmo > pics of boobs. Boob pics are a dime a dozen, just like all the crappy mmo's out there. If he added a titty shot would it of been a good post?
I don't personally care if there is flying or not in the end. I just hate reading people posting how flight ruins a game. I also don't think it's useless fluff. If properly implemented it offers several new dynamics for content, exploration, combat, siege, easter eggs, gating access to areas, travel etc, etc.So, basically instead of avoiding a flight system that will take a lot of dev time and resources to implement at all, devote even MORE dev time and resources into it by having to add feature after feature that basically balances the last feature you added? All for what? Because flying mounts are cool and fun.
This might be prejudice of me. But I almost don't want flying mounts because I perceive the type of gamer that fights for flying mounts fighting for other bullshit that isn't at all necessary to making a game fun and rewarding, and often will just be useless fluff to attract dirty casuals. And this is coming from someone who LOVES useless fluff!
Yes, I fully admit that my life now is no where near what it was like in 1999. So I am a casual and I am ok with not seeing every aspect of an MMO. I just love a good challenging game to sink into when I have the time even if it takes me a year plus to see level cap and get decent gear. As long as the game is fun and challenging and the community is good, then thats all i need.I don't personally care if there is flying or not in the end. I mean why have dungeons? Really hardcore people just want to punch mobs to death with their sweet brass knuckles and experience painful death when they miss a swing. Having a cool environment with a backstory to do it in is just useless fluff.
I mean if the idea is that the only way anything can work ever is the way it worked in previous games and to suggest improvement is to court casuals that's fine. It just seems a pretty ridiculous view.
Also casuals aren't dirty. A lot of the people who were super active and a huge part of the EQ or Vanguard communities were casuals. A LOT of role players are casual in the achievement sense. The people you don't want are the MEMEME crowd who feel that when their life circumstances prevent them from experiencing any aspect of gameplay that others enjoy that the game should be changed, even if to its detriment, to accommodate that.
