I second the 'healers doing damage' stuff. In full healing gear with full healing spec if I stopped healing and DPS'd as much as I could I should be able to deal at least 50% the damage of a similarly geared/skilled DPS class. Same goes for tanks.
That is why they gave clerics the hammers in EQ, I enjoyed it. Good call.

I guess I'll just post somethings I think are important for own personal enjoyment.

Class diversity: This has been talked about extensively over the last few pages, and I agree with most people. Clerics SHOULD be the best healers, Warriors the best tanks, etc. I played a Beastlord, and I really enjoyed being able to slow, do very good DPS, and even tank once I had enough AAs. Fuck, I used to pull for our PoE groups and shit. Ports are great imo, and spires and boats should return. I really hated the flight system in WoW, and the summoning stone was so fucking stupid. I still remember waiting for my first spire port and getting the item in my inventory. Enjoyed that much more than fucking just flying around, and it seems to have more appeal in a fantasy setting imo.

"Old" mechanics: I really miss things like slowing. I thought it was such a cool thing, personally. Having a slow and not having a slow completely changed the dynamics of the group and how to approach mobs. Shit like this really needs to be reimplemented into modern MMOs. Pulling was a fun mechanic imo, but I do see the problem people are talking about. I'm certain there's a way to fix it, but I personally don't know it lol.

OT/DT: Vanguard were fucking geniuses for this, and I really hope it makes it into Pantheon. Being able to heal as a Shaman while doing damage was an amazing feeling and made healing not as boring. I enjoyed healing in WoW, I won't lie, but Vanguard was easily the best healing experience I've had so far, aside from that fucking bugged isle that did 25% damage to everyone no matter what gear or level you were. I don't remember the name, but fuck you Brad for that shit, it ruined my senior year of high school.

I also hope the KS will have a tier allowing alpha/beta access. I'd really like to participate in the development of this game, finding bugs, discussing balance, talking about the world, etc. I know Brad talked about an extensive beta session, I'm hoping most of us will be allowed access to it considering the community we're talking about here.
Great post

Thus my wait for more twitter followers comment. Info about the game hasn't spread that far into the wider MMO community.
I wouldn't put too much into twitter followers. I follow people but never tweet, I know people who hate twitter and facebook but are following this thread. Brad was very smart to come here to start some marketing on the game. You have a very passionate audience that is dying for this type of game and I'm sure many of you have mentioned this game to your friends, I know I have. Hell some of them didn't even remember who Brad was and all I had to say was "The Vision" guy. That fucking nostalgia does it every time.

it's not about whether they are good or bad it's about market penetration. Eqn twitter has 19.5k accounts, that is far less than the total people interested in the game but is representative of wider mmo market penetration. Blizz Warcraft account has 410k following, showing much greater market penetration. For every twitter follower there is somewhere between 10 - 20 other people who know of/or play eqn/wow. 400 twitter followers means it still isn't widely known.

It was mentioned that it would be possible for classes to earn abilities to give a slightly altered play style. EQ summoned hammers were sorta like that for Clerics. You healed, but you could summon up a hammer if you had to take care of things by yourself if you had to. It was neat and I enjoyed it. Pantheon may offer something similar to that.

Brad already said otdt was going in.
I played a Cleric in both EQ and VG. I like the idea of OT and DT because I think it does add depth to game play. I just hope that Pantheon won't be as "clicky" as VG was. I enjoyed playing a Cleric in EQ more as there was plenty to do without having to enter combat. VG relied too much on combat special abilities to maintain your mana. I was often distracted by combat and couldn't heal as efficiently. As a Cleric, I just don't want to play that way. While grouping I want to focus on healing, not combat. If I want to melee constantly, I'll switch to a different class

So should a DPS be able to heal half as well also?

So there should be healers, who can do 50% of the classes who don't exist? And tanks should be able to do nothing at least half as good as something that may or may not be a thing.

When is the Kickstarter?

lol @ PULL THE GORGONS

The worst part as a monk pulling Fear was that we didn't even fucking want Shiverback.

Well here's the thing... For years people have been told by some of the people actually posting in this thread that there was no money/interest in a game like this and to stop derailing threads.. Now its centralized and those same people want to come here and basically say the same shit they used to bitch at the old school player about..it's not just a difference in opinion with some.. It's a whole gaming philosophy.
exactly this. the vocal majority have been heard for the past decade, and all there is to show for it is one giant shit sandwich after another. we don't want your game. your game already exists, it's called GW2 (and you don't play it because it sucks!)

Thought Quaid played a filthy druid at first. PULL THE GORGONS!
Oh I had a max level druid. Quad kiting is still my favorite thing I've ever done in an MMORPG I think. Too bad they fucked the priest class balance so hard and made druids almost unplayable in the raid game... ah well.

Also: The Gorgons are stingy anyway.
