I don't get it... That new video didn't tell me anything I didn't already know before. It had better lighting and no dude in the background making it look amateur, but other than that, what did it have that impressed you guys?

I wouldn't start patting them on the back because of a Q&A update. I will say finally being honest and upfront with their answers does help though, but in the end the same problem is there, they don't have a plan, they are unprepared, and they need a couple months of getting their shit together first. If they are this unprepared prior to having any money what makes anyone feel like it will be handled better after?
No... not at all. I was just making a comment that it was the first sensible thing we have seen and I'm not surprised that they would eventually release something better comparatively than before. That isn't saying much. Just stating it was better. My feeling remains that same.

They just don't want to give up the dream. There is nothing to be impressed with really, if anything the bar is set so low for this guy that the fact that he isn't blatantly lying about the use of funds and where they are in the project is a refreshing twist, still doesn't earn them a vote of confidence just makes him less of a weasel.

You got to Hang on to the Dream Bro without it.... It's just a barren waste land of WOW clones... Honestly the most head of time game that I played and still playing via an emu was SWG which is pretty fucking sad.. Hold on to that dream tight bro's

All they'd have to do (still, I believe) is revamp their Kickstarter page to look better than something C students would pull together the day before a group assignment presenting 'proposals' in an English 102 class. If they had a semi coherent KS that looked mostly professional, somewhat organized, and generally relevant, I think this thing would be a slam dunk. Instead, it's so fucking chaotic, information spread everywhere, the first thing you see on their page is a terrible 'hype' video, a one sentence blurb, and a bunch of links to random other sites.

Instead of a presentation that delivers consolidated information, even if vague or non-committal, it's like some kind of scavenger hunt.

Someone mentioned how it's worse than Kingdom Come: Deliverance. And yes, it is, but it's also worse than a local bakery that's trying to raise 15k to relocate out of a shit part of town. It's also worse than a Kickstarter I saw for a few thousand just trying to put some art together as a comic book. It's literally maybe the worst Kickstarter I've ever seen.

And I know this isn't new, but it's still pissing me off, because instead of fixing the KS, they just keep adding shit to it like teenage girls pimping their Myspace.

Still, I personally believe if you gave Brad and Co a decent budget and a man to control the budget, they'd make a game I'd want to play. What we need is a KS from a business manager pitching the idea that if we give him a budget, he'll hire this crew, keep them on pace, and not let them touch anything that isn't in-game-related.

See all I had to do was threaten to make my own MMORPG kickstarter, and Brad shot back with a good Q&A video. ;P

Nicely done video Brad. I think you need to stick to these videos. This is what you can do good, and it gives more credence to to the kickstarter than the screenshots.

Things you did right in this video:
1. You talked with authority.
2. What you said sounded like it was fact. That's what people need.

Always remember not to ever say "that's all we got folks". Even if it's all you got.

Kickstarter is funding via hype and popularity.

Good luck

@ Enitzu We have a pretty in-depth combat doc we're going to present soon. I think your idea is great - will see if we can't add a bit of of combat and role details to that doc when it goes up.

@Ben One thing I know I've seen on quite a few forums now is that people want more information/details on the classes. Do you think it's possible for you guys to not only give the lore on the classes but also a little bit about the design choice for those classes? For example, one of our debates earlier was about the tanks, we are all assuming right now that Crusader and Dark Knight will be tanks but the releases are kind of vague in that department."

So, they have this "in-depth" combat doc, but it doesn't currently have any combat details?

I asked about this last night.. I don't know what is going on with the class details.. Ben didn't really give an answer.. I don't think he was dodging the question or anything.. I just don't think they know how they want to present it.. If it helps, I basically suggested they give us class details, what makes the classes different from other games and some ability examples..He told me he would bring it up with the team. I know they've been working on the combat doc for a while.. I think they just want to make it readable and logical to everyone.. Which I get. We don't need anymore confusing info dropping ha.

That's one of my big problems with this whole thing -- it's been nothing but confusing. It's fairly obvious that there isn't one person who's taken charge and is directing the KS -- instead, everyone is jumping in to every aspect and it's become one big jumble.

I assume what that answer about the combat doc meant was that they're going to add more specific details about the classes and their roles. But phrasing it as "will see if we can't add a bit of of combat ... details" to the combat doc doesn't sound too reassuring, especially coming from the PR guy.

I personally think scans of Brad's scribbled notes would be kinda cool...

Maybe I'm nuts... Get them bound, and include it in the pledge tiers as 'a tattered notebook'.

The most sure-fire way to spawn a MMORPG with classic EQ gameplay is to kickstart or otherwise fund artists to release a generic high fantasy asset library with a commercial use allowable license.

Art is the largest barrier to open source and indie games. Every popular multiplayer game has emulated servers; EQ and WoW have some very advanced/complete emus. Code and programmers aren't the problem, it's the art. Emu coders can't even get paid for their work-- imagine if they had large asset libraries to work with and could get paid for the games they made from them.

I don't get why artists don't start kickstarters like this. Artists don't seem to want to get on the copyleft bandwagon either for whatever reason. Coders on the other hand are all too eager to give away their work. Unity has a free version, and robust open source MMOG server code is already available; if you spend money for public domain assets, you'll see those used in dozens of games instead of just one.

I have seen two crowdfunded projects with similar goals:public domain classical musicandpublic domain 2d/flash game assets, but the kickstarter I want to see more than anything else would be a full blown public domain high fantasy MMORPG asset library, not a full game. Assets can't 'fail', and once they are public domain, they are available forever for any use.
