I know, right, no classic "fighter" class. I predict failure, you've heard it here.

Honestly, though, warrior classes have always seemed the least.... everything... in pretty much every game I've ever played except maybe Gauntlet. Why do people like warriors?
I've been wondering this too. I keep reading posts from people wanting warriors. I pretty much always play tanks bc I have anger issues and love to pound on shit. And I didn't "grow up" on EQ like a lot of people here. But I did play it and EQemu and I tried to play warrior. But gawd. it was boring. you hit "auto-attack" and go make a sandwich. Rotate between "kick", "taunt" ...and "sense heading" lol. SK was so much more interesting.
Someone explain the warrior love.

You just described every class in Everquest. Clerics had a CHeal rotation, it was the only spell they ever cast in raids. Shaman had to slow the mob then spot heal and canni here and there. You get the idea.

I don't mind Dave, he always seems game to interact -- more than you can say for most people in his position.

And yeah, that thread turned zerg mode quick. Here's to hoping the message is received.

This might be a longshot..

but it might help to get 'recommendation letters' of sorts from people you previously worked with.

Just a couple one liners from people still working at SOE.. saying "I have the utmost confidence in Brad and Visionary Realms to deliver a 'modern classic' MMO.. I cant wait to play what they come up with!"

Post those on KS page.

That might get some of the VG haters to have trust in you again.

Not particularly well-worded and probably not the group he needs to reach out to, but endorsements have been used as leverage on Kickstarter before.

oh.... well shit!! OK. I never got the "orgasms over EQ" thing anyway. I feel like a summer child and everyone here is all "winter is coming!" (Because old school EQ is harsh like winter? and I'm too young to remember?? but it's coming back??)

Well you either grew up on EQ or UO or if you are younger, you grew up on games like WOW. You cant go back and re-experience what we experienced in EQ.

EQ wasn't really about the combat. it was about the camaraderie, the super rare loot, the awesome dungeons, and guild dick swinging contests. basically, the actual combat was way down the list on the reasons why the game was fun.

I still to this day blame EQ for my missing out on the keeping of heads in chests in UO.

I had started UO literally two weeks before I got invited to a beta phase of EQ , and once I started killing the rats in the Freeport courtyard I never looked back.

Yeah, above all it was a glorified chat room in the days before voice communication. With like minded people and with shit to do while you were chatting.

Sorry, did you want a bunch of buttons to push? Perhaps a button that does some damage while also knocking the mob back 2 inches, then another button that slows it 1%? Along with another 42 buttons each on a 2 minute timer?

The warrior in EQ was one of the best classes in any MMO ever for precisely the reasons you misunderstand. And the complaints you voice are exactly what have ruined modern MMOs.

Being a warrior freed you from the stupidity of whack a mole to actuallyplay the fucking game. Only warriors (and some enlightened monks) actually played EQ; everyone else pressed buttons. We were free to learn how the world worked. Warriors were free to learn how to gain or lose the attention of a mob, how to time pulls, how pathing worked, where mob spawned and the quirks of their behavior.

Meanwhile every other class (except again monks) got to sit on your ass in a corner and play the super exciting game of press the button when it popped up.

I really enjoyed the more deliberate pace of combat in EQ.
