Hopefully they bring back complete heal rotations to heal the dual-shield wielding tank, those were fun. And by fun, I mean I'll never play a cleric again in any game... ever.

The class description is still confusing, muddled and rambling. We only like it because they've at least bullet-pointed a few important aspects. But, basically, we've got Crusader, with a Warrior err Cavalier and Paladin sub-class, and then a long description describing the crusader in generic terms instead of highlighting the Cavalier and Paladin. If they're going to do sub classes that matter, then those sub classes will matter and need to be highlighted. They ramble on about Crusaders as if any crusader will be able to do any of that, when logic dictates a lot of it is dependent on your subclass.

These guys are kinda terrible at communicating.

@ Enitzu, yup! We'll be adding in the info for the cleric and dark knight today too. Means the links will change, but will be updated today.

Seems like they will update cleric&dark knight also

So the dk paths are going to be Keaton and Bale

I think it's funny how even if they do a better class update, you can still find things (dual sheild) that are retarded. It's just some crazy idea, it's not like they know how the mechanics of it are even going to work (if at all).
I dunno.. I wont trash on that one yet.. Have to wait and see.. But not every class is going to appeal to every person.. some people just love random shit like that.

It's amazing to me that some people are excited over this class update. I look at it and it's yet another sign of McQuaid and Friends' incompetence.

They are so very clearly making this up as they go along. Before yesterday they had no idea that they were going to have class specializations - then the Kickstarter comments were filled with thousands of tears from people who wanted to be warriors, and BAM - class reveal has both a warrior and a paladin specialization.

The problem with Pantheon has stopped being "there's a vision with no tangible evidence because it's so early" - as the developers have been claiming. The real problem is that there isn't any vision at all.

This is how Brad often fucks up. It's how he did it in Vanguard. He's doing it now. He basically talks about things that are planned like they're completed, then when people get hyped and want to see the goods, he has to either stall, lie, or whip some terrible shit together at the last minute.
I present to you several examples of this pattern of behavior.

And finally I still feel very strongly that going seamless will really pay off as the live team adds efficiently to the existing world, databases of items and such can be updated en masse to slow MUDflation and at the same time refresh the world and make it feel more dynamic, ship travel and exploring vast archipelagoes becomes more integral, planes with unique physics models appear miles up into the sky, non-Euclidean Portal technology is used to build unheard of dungeon layouts, Underdark-style 'chunks under chunks' are added...
None of this was true. None of those tech features were ever begun or even discussed.

AraduneMithara_sl said:
And so I still see a 500k+ game, I was just off by a year for a variety of reasons...
Heh.

AraduneMithara_sl said:
Then a re-launch towards the end of the year that includes the first expansion, one that would add RTS style city building, ship to ship combat, jousting, and a second half of the Kojanese Archipelago that makes ship travel meaningful and by meaningful I mean not tedious, rewarding exploration, with lots of new areas (both in the existing world and in the extension of the archipelago).
None of this is true either, us developers heard about these features for the first time when he posted them.

...while making your journey to found a new player city while constantly being attacked by exotic sea creatures, leviathans, and other traditional members of fantasy and crypto-zoology. Not to mention pirates with canons, or other players and their ships on the PvP servers.
Yeahhhhhh...

We?re going to take player housing and evolve it into player cities. We?re going to take sailing a ship into full ship to ship combat with cannons and such. We?re gong to take mounted travel and evolve it into mounted combat, etc.
Was not planned.

And who knows, could be first expansion or second, but eventually you need to pull from Mesoamerican mythology, encounter empires based on Greco-roman architecture... it goes on and on, its all planned out, and Vanguard can do all of it given sufficient time.
Oof.

This is the weird thing for me though. I read this thread, I read all the ks information. What was said that people felt mislead about. It was pretty clear to me they were at the very beginning of the project. I just don't see any comments or statements they made where they pretended otherwise.

People act like they were told a working demo was coming even though everything they talked about indicated they were at the very start of the kickstart. So regardless of the quality of the ks, I don't see how people got mislead by this. Some people potentially blew it up in their head but all the early information brad and other people posted indicated they did not have a lot to start with. It is fine not to like that or want to support it, but to claim it was misleading seems totally off base.
The fact we've had to explain over and over even to some in this community that the 800k is to set up a studio, not build a game, is proof enough. No, they didn't promise a working demo, but instead of just letting the project be what it is: to start a fucking studio. They talked themselves into a corner by bullshitting us about the game this and the game that, and when pressed to produce something, anything from or about the actual game they kept seeming to reference, they had to scramble and make shit up.

So, no, they didn't intentionally, maliciously mislead anyone. Hell, I don't think they'd be capable. They basically just talked up shit they WANTED to do as if they had already done them, or even started, and then when called on their bullshit pretty much proved they didn't have shit. All they had to do was talk about the project, getting a studio set up, why they want to make the sort of game we want to make. Then, when people ask about the game, say 'We have a lot of great ideas and our philosophies will be such, but right now we need to get a studio set up so we can then focus all our efforts in the actual game design.'

Sure, plenty of people will wait and see how the game shapes up, but I don't think they'd have any problems at all funding the project if it was just not confusing as fuck. Half the people backing right now don't seem to know what they're backing for sure, and that's a problem. And most of the concerns about money and plans and intentions had to be asked, repeatedly, before we finally got answers that are now buried in QA videos and FAQs that are mostly about a game they're basically just making up as they go.

So, no, it's not maliciously misleading. It's just general incompetence.

So much toxic negativity in here--some of it justified--but, still, the tone of this thread has just gotten nasty. The project's faction standing has plummeted with some of you that you're all "scowling, ready to attack" anything that emerges from it.

They could do like Everjane and let squires be players using free accounts who act as servants to the paid-player-accounts. If they get good enough or want to play an actual Crusader, they'll need the endorsement of their Knight and have to start paying a sub.

All pet classes could basically have limited free-to-play accounts were they're only allowed to be pets and servants. If they're shitty, you're allowed to fire them and that account is banned from going to a real sub and real class. If they're good pets/servants, though, they can buy their freedom.

Yes. We know he was full of shit with Vanguard and all the pie in the sky stuff. So far, he's been more grounded with this project and isn't promising the world. I know some of you will never get over Vanguard's failings, but I'm happy to drop some cash to give him one last chance to make something that appeals to me.

So is this dual class thing going to be two different talent trees like WoW or like EQ2 where you hit level 10 and finally get to pick your class for realz this time?
