I thought the monster races and elves weren't terrible. The problem with the Ogres and Trolls was more that they totally changed how they looked rather than the actual quality of the models. I'd never say I prefer them to the original models, but some of them were OK.

The fact that VG is shutting down on the 31st is a boon for Pantheon. That's right in the middle of the campaign when it's going to really need a boost. I don't know what Brad can do to attract those players, but if he figures something out, Pantheon will get the funding no problem.

Yeah I can think of nothing better for Pantheon than a stark reminder of Brad's first colossal failure in recapturing his EQ glory, that'll get the money flowing

This was something he posted on the Kotaku comments, and it made me wonder if Brad thinks like he is that fallen hero and this will let him rise again. It's like he's had one to many acid trips and thinks he's living an MMO. Maybe he should post here instead.

brads had this planned all along .... the rise of the fallen ..... the fallen being VG is pantheon......Pantheon:Rise of the fallen.....

the reason brad has nothing planned is because he is waiting on VG to die to he can remake it with the data he already has from VG

...how did we not see this sooner?

Hah, nah. I loved the style of the old character models, but they were muddy as hell. I'd have rather they just added better textures, but didn't hate all the new models like many people did. I saw them as different style, but not necessarily bad. Hated the troll, for instance. Thought the ogre model was good for a Fallout mutant, but lost all the charm of the original. Iksar was cool if I recall. Most of the elves and shit, shrug, at least the new models weren't muddy as hell. Dwarf was terrible as they weren't fat anymore? Humans and half-elfs if I recall looked like they'd had skin grafts, which wasn't cool.

Luclin retextures in general were good, character models were hit or miss but I certainly didn't hate them just because they were different. I think I ended up turning on half of them, and the other half I couldn't stand, but it was mostly just a style thing or it being too different, not because the models were inherently shitty design work. And a lot of the Luclin models for NPCS were cool.

My problem with Vanguard models is the style was pretty well the same, they just got uglier and muddier and lower res and jaggier and shit.

Yeah, if you liked what he accomplished with full control and $40 million dollars, then I bet you cant wait to see what he can pull off with $800k. There is no way this can do anything but help the kickstarter, maybe he can get Bill Gates to endorse him "Best 40million we ever spent."

Or as I think someone said him and his group of garage warriors sat around watching "The Dark Night Rises" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" smoking weed and that's how we ended up here.

The unannounced mmo is hardcore, which is why Brad got sent away. And he's too high profile to work on an unannounced mmo. Everyone would have known it was going to be hardcore if Brad were on the team and then Blizzard would have turned Titan hardcore to get the drop on SOE.

Of course if you aren't careful you might invoke Lumie and it could turn out that Brad and Smed are lizard people and the only way to save ourselves is with garlic.

The source code was a joke referencing Brad's quote on "sharing" technology. The class names were a separate thought and meant to be serious but also a poke at the Dark Knight name.
