The problem is, if it doesn't get funded (or close to it) that is going to be interpreted the same way the Vanguard disaster was interpreted: not sufficient interest in an old school game (not that Pantheon is actually "old school" but whatever). So it's a catch-22 or maybe a catch-23 (that's a joke for the humor impaired) right? Brad and co came into this with a rose and a promise which by rights shouldn't get them funding as you and others have noted. But if they don't get funded or some decent level of funding we don't ever get a chance at EQ1+ or VG+ or whatever because no one else will step up to make a game.

And this, by the way, is the first post in support of Pantheon that I agree with 100%. And that's why all of us should be pissed at the shitshow Brad has put on. His incompetence is threatening something we all want.

Looks like they took down the guild tiers, also the $900 and up pledges includes a personal phone call from Brad.

I wish he'd taken it down on the 14th and took a mulligan as someone posted. Well maybe Draegen and co can run a kickstarter for their MMO, I'll throw in $10.

Also I should go back and edit my "I think they'll make it" post on the 14th or so when they got 50k or whatever on the second day as now I don't think how make it unless some weird miracle with one of those guys with a million followers on twitter gets 100,000 of them to pitch in 5.00 each. Good thing Tuco wasn't running Avatar bets at the time, or I'd have lost to Erronius I'm sure.

No offense to Troy, he's a solid guy throughout all the Pantheon stuff, but I just cannot agree about looking over certain aspects of the interview (or any announcement for that matter) just because they say some good things.

One thing I've learned about MMO's is there are some things that you can look over and make minimal impact to the game itself and then there are others that completely blanket any enjoyment that could be experienced. To me, they have a couple of ideas that are game breaking to me. I'm not saying they need to be completely reversed but we really just need more information. Most of these updates should not be looked to far in-depth. However, you cannot dismiss them completely and find yourself willing to settle just because you hear something you like the next sentence later.

I sort of think the opposite. I think brad's 20-50K sub base estimate is accurate and there for all to see. Including those in the gaming industry. They would love our money. It just isn't viable--based on how they make games--yet.

I can imagine a more dynamic team--young staff, lots of energy, able to work long hours and perform multiple roles--making a game like this much affordably.

I've been critical of the KS as well, but damn man, Brad is the only one even doing anythingtofuck up. If the KS fails it may ruin the prospect of an oldschool MMO, but who else is even trying to make an old school MMO in the first place?

If you want an oldschool MMO, back Pantheon or gtfo to be perfectly honest, because this is it, for better or worse it's now or fucking never so put up or shut up.

Okay I see your point. I don't know - maybe you're right even if it gets built there isn't enough subs to pay for a live team/cs + next expansion team. I hope not as that means I should just accept the end of interesting new MMOs and start playing on P99 or something.
