This what I had thought they were doing for the last 3 months, prior to the kickstarter. But the lack of concrete info pretty much shows they didn't. Too bad because a D10 mini-RPG PDF would have been a kickass and cheap tier bonus as well as proof they'd done more than work on napkins.

@Denaut presumably he is just continuing work on the dungeon architecture, not mob placement and etc.

This is definitely true. Even without any art assets at all, you can get a working "demo" dungeon up and running in one night using Unity. Get the "functional design" down and then build or buy art assets around it to make it look the way you want. That is one thing that is awesome about Unity. Extremely rapid prototyping. For a small company, it's importance cant be underestimated.

Yeah that KS is never happening.

It needs an angle investor at this point, which I don't believe can be done through kickstarter.

I.E. If they make a deal with some investor to back the game for profits on the game, I don't believe they can just save a Kickstarter like that.

Maybe someone knows of a precedence of this happening with another Kickstarter that they can cite as an example.

This is a pretty silly analogy. Worse than Denaut's first kiss bs.

I don't know exactly what happened but presumably someone somewhere figured out that fixing Vanguard in 2007 would require a new engine and everything that entailed and balked.

In hindsight SOE probably should have paid for the fixes as so many subsequent games flopped and there would have been room for a revamped VG, but whatever Smed wasn't ever a very good CEO and not supporting VG was just one of many bad decisions.

Who knows if Smed hadn't screwed the pooch with the EQ2 launch and SWG changes SOE would have had the surplus cash to pay for a new engine. Whatever she's almost dead now Jim.

Disagree. I think they need to put that dungeon build on the KS for the boogie folks to watch.. More info on the KS when they look at it the better...

Damn work is really getting in the way of me following todays info... Anything new being announced?

As much as this might help it could backfire on them if they do it like everything else. (poorly planned and half assed) It could be very cool to see some ingame footage, classes, zones, features but unless they came out looking pretty top notch I don't think many people would be that forgiving.

I think they are better off showing the concept art pictures, maybe some of the designers drawing shit, putting some of the process on twitch, although from the way that they make it out this Vu guy is the only one doing the heavy lifting and actually producing work.

They've made the mistake of not clarifying that the money they're trying to raise is to FUND THE STUDIO... NOT DEVELOP THE GAME.

Unfortunately, due to that lack of clarified distinction, they've having to do more of the latter and cater to people with comments and opinions like yours who are saying "I won't put anything in until I'm shown more of the game".

Their fault for poor communication leading to misunderstanding of the purpose for the funds.

Your fault for being 335 pages in and not knowing the facts.

I have thought this needed clarifying for a while. Its just for them to get this off the ground. It's seed money. Almost everyone treats KS as a pre-order, and in some cases its true; here it's something more foundational.
