Did anyone contact Schilling about Brad's kickstarter... has to be someone who contacts him from this board... Or is he completely over the gaming. He must have some cash left !

I still believe adding a worthwhile $25 tier was a great idea. They just need to advertise it now. The people that watch Brad's twitter and check the Pantheon kickstarter page aren't the ones that need to be advertised to. It's the people that don't know about Pantheon yet and don't know who Brad is that this tier will appeal to. These are the people that love playing MMOs, but don't know who Brad is or what is Everquest.

They just see a new MMO, and the $25 price tag that gets them the game and beta. This is the hype tier.

$10 SBS
$15 Dragoon Dirk
$50 Stein of Moggok
$75 Rubicite
$125 FBR
$500 Yak
$800 Yaks
$1000 GEB
$2,000 GBS
$5,000 Guise of the deceiver
$7,500 FBSS
$10,000 Fungi tunic
$100,000 Manastone

That could get the game fully funded.

He can always nerf them later. Fuck people who buy loot!
Haha that list brought back memories. Funny how I remember every single (well almost. No idea what a GBS is) item on that list, know what they are, where they drop, and what mob drops it. I remember doing the Stein quest, I remember who helped me on it....I mean its ridiculous. But in the last 10 years, I couldn't name a single item in EQ2 or even Vanguard outside of the retro fishbone earring in EQ2 and the bad ass quest I did in Vanguard for the Shadowhound. That was one of best quests in all of Vanguard. Challenging, in depth, time consuming, yet rewarding and doable.

With that being said, FUCK NO to offering any in-game items unless your in the $10k tier.

Cloak of Flames needs to be in there, but yeah, that would pretty much do it.

Just saw the update.

OK... this Revenant race is some stupid shit that really makes no sense in the context of the dumb lore they have set up. Really makes me feel like they just don't care. Oddly, this is the first thing that's really made me want to reconsider backing this at all.

Richard Garriot was able to get Shroud of the Avatar funded despite the baggage from the Tabula Rasa fiasco, his termination from NCSoft and him suing them to eventually win $28m a mere 2 years before asking for money on kickstarer. If a shady guy like Garriot(seriously $28 million look it up) can get his game funded on Kickstarter then McQuaid can to.
If VR had run a better kickstarter it'd be funded by now. Brad's back story isn't why this ks is mopeing along.

Needed
-lots of concept art.
-class combat races from the start
-better lore
-some actual pre alpha gameplay/ss to show they'd done something.

GBS= Glowing Black Stone, had like +9 INT or something. Dropped form a stupid Gnome in Qeynos Hills Pyzjin who hardly spawned and when she did, she most of the time didnt have it. Fuck that gnome bitch!

As for VG loot, I remember not only the shadow hound quest, but the quest to get my necro form which was later removed (stupid SOE) and the Swamp Armor quests to get my Fireweve armor which was pre-raid armor. Then the APW armor sets which for necros was Nosaj's etc. Oh and VG had Jboots which mirrored EQ's Jboots quest and all.

that game looks freaking awesome, I may have to pledge to get the beta/release of that.
Correction: that presentation is fucking awesome.

My girlfriend isn't a gamer at all and has NO interest in playing a game like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but I showed her the video, talked about their story. She was practically ready to pledge and incredulously asked to make sure I'd already pledged.

I showed her the Pantheon video and talked about it some... she wasn't impressed, and finally asked what they were even asking money for, because they talked about a game but didn't seem to have a game or any story about why the game needs funding, etc. I finally explained a little more, and pretty quickly she concluded it was just a bunch of random guys with ideas wanting money to start a business "or something."

You basically already have to be following the Pantheon project to know what the fuck it's even about or aiming for, when it should be presented such that even people not interested in the project at least understand it. And through that understanding, you have projects like Kingdom Come: Deliverance where it can resonate with people on a level other than just 'cool game, bro.'

I have no numbers to back it up, but I would guess a lot of KS projects get funded with the help of quite a few backers who find their cause worthy even if they aren't really that interested in rewards or the final product.

again its hard to compare a kickstarter like Kingdom Come to Pantheon. Because Kingdom Come is 3/4 done with the game. Pantheon did not even begin. Youre taking about a project which probably cost upwards of $1 million dollars to make so far VS 10 dudes in their basement and a dell working on something in their spare time.

Ohh yea, I never did get one of those things. Actually I never ever, in 5 years of playing saw Hadden either. Couldn't even have told ya what he looked like until I started my own emulator and finally saw him. I bought my fishbone earring in the EC tunnel.

I have no faith in SOE at all. If you do happen to enjoy a game from them, you can expect it to probably change to suit a larger audience they're chasing. Just like the poor RPGer early adopters of EQ before it went viral in the Quake community. I say that as one of those hyper-competitive Quake guys who fucked up their role playing experience. But later, SOE did the same to me and chased an even larger group.

I think EQN will probably be different than previous SOE titles because it's a strategic title for the PS4. It should be very sound technically and feature SCE production quality. But that also means it's going to have to be accessible to a large, general audience. And like before, SOE will cater to them.
This is absolutely spot on. EQN if successful on ps4 will turn SOE into just another in house ps4 dev studio.

I have a hard time believing they are going to put in pay-to-win stuff (like stat items) at higher tiers. At least that's how I would think of some of the things listed above.

I think what's killing them is something they can't fix, the timeline. The fact that this game isat least3 years out (I say at least because you know how these things go with this type of game) is very hard for people to envision and get behind. If they were in some sort of pre-alpha phase and had some sort of timetable on when the alpha/beta stages will start, I think that would help alot. They were asked this exact question last night and the answer was 'depends how much money we get'. That's a horrible answer, you're whole design is simply based on money andyou are admitting to that.Anyone who is not a diehard takes one look at that and walks because if you can't even tell me when you perceive certain stages of the game to start (at very least alpha), why should they give you their money.
