Before I start it, is this the type of build that requires a lotta currency to be decent?

The version I did was fairly expensive. I'm not sure how budget-friendly you can go with it. All of the abyss jewels weren't cheap. Crafting the bow would be 6 to 10ex.

Only did it as I've never done it before, I doubt that I'll do it again. Level 99 is really long, Korrupt has said that 99 is the halfway point and that feels about right. The xp penalty is very harsh past 97 so the last 3 levels are all long. But 99 is a whole new level of fuckery.
I did find 30 ex in oils so there's that. I mean you make enough money to buy a headhunter just mapping it pretty much.

, always the complainer, doesn't like having to hug monsters to kill them. I'm not *AS* annoyed by BV's range, but you do have to shape certain corridor maps to exploit HoI chaining. But still, on mobs that don't die immediately, being in melee range is quite the downside. And with as much movement speed this build has, it's actually hard to position your character correctly while still staying in range. Delve cities were especially fun that I just plain stopped using the builtin lights and tossed flares if I needed to kill.
So this version uses WOrb. Yes, you read that correct. There aren't a whole lot of "do damage while you move" abilities and even fewer that synergize with HoI, so there aren't a lot of options. I dropped Flesh and Stone since you don't need to be in melee range anymore, picked up Discipline and Level 4 Englighten, almost up to 9k EHP. Also picked up a Hatred Crit and Disc ES on Hit Watcher's Eye, great for survivability, especially in delve. CI might be a possibility, but it doesn't feel like it with the amount of uniques you have to shove into this build.

Few things I'm still having issues with:
- Left-click Withering Step and a channeled ability seems to be bugged. Hold down your channeled ability and left click. When you release your channeled ability you'll continue channeling. Left-click Withering Step was a convenient way to ensure uptime of Elusive when you're moving. I've mostly worked around it by macroing Withering Step and Flame Dash, but it's not ideal since that combo eats two Flame Dash charges.
- I can't seem to get a good cadence going for WOrb. With BV it was pretty easy since can work around Unleash. Just cast BV once every ~3s, which is half your flasks, and you maintain near max stacks of BV. Max stages of WOrb is only ~5s. I would love to fit Shaper's Presence or Shackles into this build as increased duration only adds 0.9s to overall duration.

Just checked out the D3 thread and everyone was talking how they hope D4 is just a rip off of PoE. I have tried to get into PoE many times but failed, mainly due to the very early game being so "meh". Have they fixed that recently? This is a game I should love but never managed to get into.

early game POE is like your initial exposure to beer. Not the best taste. Then you power through and have some fucking amazing times. So then you’re more then happy to take that first drink.
My other analogy was early game PoE is what the initial stages of anal is for your girl, too restrictive and nobody’s really having fun. Then she loosens up then you can plow to your heart’s content.

You can't just rush into poe and expect great things, the game has a learning curve and it's brutal to people who don't understand the mechanics.
The acts as in the early game are a bit meh but the game becomes pretty great once you hit mapping after act 10 and has one of the best endless dungeons ever made.
If you try again you should post what type of build you'd like to play, if you play a crap build the game will be fucking awful. Ask someone here what they recommend - Something tanky is always good for a beginner.

Reminds me when Rhyker the Diablo youtuber reviewed PoE when it became clear D4 wasn't coming out soon and he made it partway thru the acts and that was enough to review the entire game lol. Not even a fraction of it. No map running, no crafting, no league mechanics etc.

I have a buddy that plays casually. Plays only one build. Usually kills UE and shaper in month 2 of a league. Still sees all the content. It took him 3 fucking tries and him telling me he’d rather play wow or d3 before he got it. I think I played it 3-4 times to about act 3 before things started to sorta click. It’s a deep daunting game but is in every way superior to d3

difference between PoE and D3, is d3 you can get a legendary weapon and it just flatout catapults your leveling experience with ease, where it's already fairly simple.
In PoE, if you don't know how to craft speed boots / +% damage weapons etc and keep it up a bit, leveling to end game is a much more brutal experience. They can both be done in relatively similar time frames to go 0 to max (maps or cap in d3), but the skill involved in one is significantly and massively larger.
