Metamorph is going core starting next league and has its own scarabs. The Gilded one makes EVERY organ have a reward. 10% chance to spawn in any map. I am happy about this.

Aisling in Intervention for scarabs, probably going to be a decent money maker since a gilded metamorph scarab looks like it'll get you pretty solid returns, since you'll get 2 really loaded organs(tier 2 scarab makes the boss drop 2 organs instead of just one).

Metamorph is a solid choice to bring core. Pretty intuitive, fast, easy to understand, and allows the player some form of "choice" on their difficulty vs. rewards. Now they just need to scrap shit like Betrayal and Blight.

I think they need to keep the amount of previous expansion events down to a minimum where if they add one then another has to go.

We have Metamorph, Blight, Incursion, Bestiary (forget this one), Synthesis maps, Breach, Betrayal, Legion, and what else am I missing? Nemesis/Beyond and some others being map mods is something else entirely.

Blights pretty amazing for rewards and it's a solid source of currency even if you don't run the blighted maps yourself. I think there is a point where they have to say is enough, must be completely overwhelming for a new player if they make it to maps.

I would be happy if they just took out betrayal and incursion since they take forever. All the others are quick or easily skippable.

Also a fucking auction house.

I started in metamorph league with no prior experience of the game, got to 97 and it took about 3 minutes of reading as I came upon each mechanic and all the information was easy to find. While most new players probably wouldn't even take the little bit of effort to understand things, it wasn't all that overwhelming if you do.

This game is very unfriendly to new players. Maybe being a seasoned ARPG player and knowing 1/2 this stuff helps, but the first time I played PoE was in 2.6 with absolutely no prior ARPG experience and I was lost (shit like flat dmg, additive, multiplicative, etc etc...). Finally someone here helped to explain some of this stuff in game and it finally stated to make some sense. Watching some streamers also helped like my man RaizQT. Took a couple of leagues playing to understand fundamentals, but still there was a shit ton of stuff I did not know, like the little vendor recipes and what makes some gear good and great. For exapmple I got some dagger to drop in my second league. I thought it was good, so I listed it for like 25c or some shit. I got like 20 tells within the first few minutes, and finally some dude told me that this is easily a 1-2ex dagger. Shit like this only comes through playing the game and experience. I can only inagine the stuff I let rot or just vendored that was actually good, lol.

Like I said before, I watch my 15 yr old try to play this with his buds, and its funny to see him struggle with fundamental shit like sockets, links, what to socket with what to make it work better, none of this shit is explained well in the game.

Then you get into more advanced stuff like crafting and hoo boy, you could seriously have a 101 college course on this game and all its additions over the years.

And i think this is why they are doing 2.0, I seriously think they will be dumbing down many of the systems int his game, like they showed us with the socketing of gems and linking and etc...

dont get me wrong man, this game is great for seasoned players. The depth and breadth of this game, plus the crafting and all that shit jsut makes for a huge gaming experience. But, yeah sadly at the expense of new players. I think this could all be solved by having more tutorials, maybe a little tutorial place they explain some of this stuff before setting out, obviously skippable by seasoned players.

I can guarantee that you're the exception and not the rule.

Na I think the information is generally easy to find, the wiki is easily one of the best maintained wiki in any game I've ever played, it's almost always accurate and updated and is very detailed.

However, you do need to be the type of player who likes finding a new thing then researching it. Some people just like playing the game and figuring out by themselves, and only that.

There's a fairly large amount of people who use presets when making characters in RPGs for example. For this type of players the game is absolutely abyssmal, it does a very poor job at teaching you how to play the game and what the things in the game are. For example fairly early you're forced to encounter Navali in act1, but you're never told anything about prophecies, how they work, how you get more or anything. You can easily finish the story without ever figuring out you could have used prophecies(which isn't a bad thing since lvling prophecies are mostly shit anyway but still).

So yeah in that regard it's terrible for new players, but for the small subset of players who love reading up on shit, that spend 3hours making their character and restarting over and over to min max their starting choice like me, it's really not bad, because all the information is easily findable.

It's just not accessible at all and you have to be willing to learn a lot of things if you want to enjoy the game fully, it's not a pick and play experience for example like D3 is with the simplified skill system and most of the systems being tied to endgame rather than being added throughout the story.

I'm going to start interviewing programming candidates by making them play PoE and seeing how well they adapt and overcome the unknown.

Jox, you want a job?
