The lucky buff is affected by duration I'd assume. It also says base duration is 4secs.

Ok I get it. The tags on the Arc spell are for both the base and the vaal spell. Wonder if the base spell adopts the duration tag. Would help with using arc in Poets Pen builds.

Shimmeron x2 + arc totems = Won game.

I might goof and do Arc with Shimmeron/Tulborn and call of the brotherhood or something. Spice it up.

Never played a trapper/miner/totemer. Does total "cast" -> mob death time beat what you can do with self cast?

Theres a number of reasons to go traps/mines/totems.

all avoid reflect. the trap/mine/totem casts the spell. At the same time, no leech however either.
They bypass cast times. Arc with a .8s cast time.
Mines and traps have .5s laying speed default.
Remote mine is 40% more damage. Minefield is +2 mines, 21% less damage.
so, its a 40% more damage support, and in the case of spells with large cast times, a hefty cast time increase. Then with clustertrap/minefield another huge cast time buff, by casting multiple times at once.
minefield with 21% less damage, and +2 mines, is 137% more damage.
trap/mine, minefield/cluster trap are pretty large dps gains directly.

Mines come at the price of needing detonate remote mine DROP only skillgem, linked to spell totem. a 2 link, and pita for SSF.
Traps come at the price of delay on activation, and need to be activated by NPCs themselves. As well as cooldowns. This is what is being addressed in 3.0 NO cooldown on certain trap skills, including trap support. AND, traps auto activating on Duration timeout. so, still a delay, but they WILL cast now, and never be wasted.

Then obviously, more specialized things. Inquis/scion passives for totems. Sab traps/mines, etc.

old arc.
47-886 damage. 466.5 ave. x1.25c/s. 583dps.
+remotemine. 653ave x2c/s. 1306dps (1 link, +totem detonate mine.)
515.9ave x3 1547.6 x2c/s. 3095dps cluster mine 3mines/cast. (2 link, +totem detonate mine.)

new arc.
152-862 507ave. x1.25c/s 633.75dps. x105% more damage. 1299 dps.
887 ave x 2c/s 1774 dps remote mine. x105% more 3636.7
700.7 x3 2102 x 2c/s. 4204 dps cluster mine. x105% more 8618dps

Arc especially works well wit cluster traps/mines. Since it auto targets, and gets dramatically increased single target, and coverage with it. without, arc gets its 8 hits in, and stops. compared to a gmp peircing attack, which will hit 50 /50 of beyond mobs. While a minefield arc, will hit 24/50 vs self casts 8.
Mirror arrow and arc, auto activating on timeout is huge. Projectile skills can miss when activating far from target, AOE skills also miss often. arc never misses. 5/5 cluster traps will hit on target.

Foxtactics the God of Arc said yesterday he has had a long awaited secretive (aka broken) build for this. I'm for sure going Arc once he lets the cat out of the bag, this poor guy has been waiting since beta for this.

So I played a KB/Barrage miner in the Bestiary league, was decent, but detonating the mines separately just felt clunky even w/ totems and CWDT. However with Arc, I might give this a whirl again...

yeah, manually detonating mines is a giant PITA and a huge stopgap. you almost require Detonate mine.
Detonate Mines

you link it to spell totem, and it will spam detonate mine on a .2s cast time default, so you can cast Mines nonstop, and IT will trigger them, as fast as you can lay them.

Also on the trap comparison, while throwing traps is faster than casting the spell, you have to wait for the traps to travel, and then activate, so pretty sure selfcast is just faster than traps. Mines go faster but the detonating mechanic is pretty cancer imo(even if you use a totem, you actually have to summon the totem every other screen because it won't detonate from too far I think?), although it lets you setup for bosses that have an intro(Izaro, Shaper etc) by just dropping all your shit and getting a big advantage right away.

You do get more damage generally out of them, at the cost of clunkiness and no leech(not that spell leech is that great after all the nerfs, at least until you can get your grubby hands on a vinktar, and then you're going to leech like crazy). Also Arc had notoriously bad support options before, not sure about now since I never play casters and I think Innervate is getting buffed too. But since it's not a projectile or aoe, a lot of the usual supports just didn't do shit, that's why mines/traps were obvious good picks.

I think it'll be worth toying around with poebuilder as usual to figure it out, I'm not sure if mine/traps will still be the best, at least for general clear. For bosses they probably should still be but I feel if you want to make a boss build you might want to consider something else than arc? Although with helm enchant and uniques it might actually be good now.

Arc can get decent leech from Berek's Grip.

You might be right on supports though. My memory says that the 6th and maybe even 5th link for a full self cast arc feels kinda meh. I don't think Innervate is being touched this patch.

I might try out traps then to level, then transition in my planned Poet's Pen. Unless whatever Foxtactics says he has turns out to be as good as he says it is.

Looking at it quickly, the decent supports would be Added Lightning/Innervate, Lightning Pen, Faster Casting/Spell Echo, Increased Crit/crit multi/controlled destruction. Controlled destruction is probably needed due to the massive more multiplier, and then you compensate the crit with increased crit support, pick faster casting or spell echo depending on taste, lightning pen depending on ascendency, added lightning or innervate depending on how you feel about it, or both if you have room. If you're stacking crit then you'd drop controlled destruction and get crit multi instead, I think, unless you can max crit regardless.

Traps/Mines get 39%-49% more damage on that support and then trap/mine damage support for another 39%. That generally would be instead of added lightning or lightning pen I guess.

Arc/LW Poet's Pen with Inpulsa's and Elementalist. Weapon swap to Arc/Ball Lightning(also getting a buff!) for single target. Not my idea, but I played it last league and it's by far the smoothest T1 map clear build I've played. It's like Flicker Strike without the rough edges.

I don't know why but for some reason I don't like playing the top one or two flavor of the month skills and I think Arc is it for totems, mines and self cast this league. Basically, if you're maining a spell you're using arc.

Ok so help me out here, not the end of the world per se but...

I logged on my character on Standard to move shit over, fix tabs, etc, and find out all my masters are like level 4, all my maps that I completed are no longer completed. A few are, but not many. My hideout is extremely, old, etc.

What, exactly, carries over? I swear this is a painfully shitty experience to figure out what carries over. Not going to play standard most likely. But still, might do so from time to time to experience end game content that I can't get to during a league.

Doesn't the migration to standard take a few days? I never play standard so I could be remembering wrong.

All of your items are going to carry over and pretty much everything gets moved or added into Standard. The Atlas should be mostly the same and the sextant limit doesnt apply once merged, im at 40/3 for example.
