its not CoC, its poets pen in a skillgem.
6-link spellslinger with a bunch of spells. 5 link wand attack in gloves. or something like that. spellslinger is not linked to the attack. its a SEPARATE active skill, that reservers mana, AND it procs when you attack with wands.

Oh i'm dumb
But that certainly makes it more interesting. Something i wanna try out now.

It's content the casuals can never have would be my guess.

There are legitimate reasons to dislike Headhunter. It's a design constraint, you can see that most easily with how they change emblem encounters when Legion went core. You should not be designing the game around one item. I wonder how much more content was changed for HH before it was even released.

I can understand those legit reasons and they ultimately fixed it, but I still don't understand how it negatively affects others gameplay experience or why its legit reason to "dislike" it. We like to say things often like "Play a build you don't need to do lab in", but at the same time things like "Legion sucked because a HH was required for the emblem encounters" or "Soandso build is useless without the X lab enchant". HH is no more required for the emblem encounter any more or less than the lab is for any one build, or any helm enchantment. HH will enhance the encounter and make it the best it can be, so does lab on nearly every build, and so to helm enchantments. Why is min/max optimization such a critical issue to highlight only when headhunter is involved?

There are tons of builds that delete uber bosses in seconds, but there's never a call for those to get nerfed -- only HH, and only because it clears fast. Everyone seems to ignore the fact its a horrible shitty bossing build, and a weak build in general. A pure HH build can't even clear uber lab I'd bet (I sure can't). A pure HH build has trouble clearing maps too unless you beyond it or give it lots of sextant juice.

Play what you enjoy to play, who cares what others do. So long as its not exploitative, this is a game that lets you do a shitload of things in a shitload of ways, and no one build is the best at everything. Every build has its strengths and weakness, HH is just one thing among many.

So this spellslinger shit is basically just like Poet's Pen then? You just toss it in to a spell link and attack with frenzy or whatever you want to proc mad Arcs?

It can be, but as I said it can be used in a bunch of different ways, you can have more than one proced setup(without dual wielding poet's pens) and you can have more links, and you can actually use a better wand too(if you're scaling your attacks that's pretty important). Cost is obviously you need to reserve a bunch of your mana to do it.

The only reason I’ve argued against HH is that the game is weighted toward clear speed being paramount. Bossing doesn’t have the same level of returns compared to just killing fast. Maybe it does now with Sirus/Conq drops....

I’d like to try the kinetic blast (is it an attack? Looks like it’s implied in the vids) with arc, ball lightning, and wave of conviction.

I think the best way to describe Spellslinger is that it's a CWDT Poet's Pen with mana reserve.

You can create links to it that trigger off your casting. So you could have a 4L in your boots with it and a 6L in your chest and then lightning warp in your wand and just warp to trigger both sets of sockets.

Kinetic Blast is the old wand skill that does little bubbles exploding, new one is Kinetic Bolt(not sure why they used such a similar name but eh). And yeah it's an attack, but scales off spell power too.

spellslinger mana reserve seems like it will get out of control real fast. kind like heralds, I suspect you won't want to go overboard with it. 1 maybe 2 spells generally. no other supports(that increase mana reservation at least)

It's not that bad

a normal 6 link spellslinger is around 50% reserved (spellslinger + spell + 4 supports => 15% x 1,35^4 = 49,82%)..

ofcourse it can vary a bit depending on what supports you use. You'd probably want to pick spells that don't require gmp for example (1.65 multi). Compared to the standard fair for supports that has either a 1.3 or a 1.4 multiplier...alltough theres obviously cheaper ones too.

I think it'll shine if you do hybrid damage and scale your attacks too, unlike Poet's Pen which is just a delivery system, you can use a solid damage wand and actually get good wand attacks in on top of your spells, so it'll compensate for the loss of aura/herald that you would otherwise use for reserving. You can scale your attack damage via spell power with the new notable on the tree(or if using Kinetic Bolt) so you get a bunch of damage from that.

Also one interesting thing is Spellslinger+curse is a lot cheaper than blasphemy+curse if you're using a wand, unless you can/want to run a curse on hit setup via ring or something then obviously you don't use either.

During Legion, HH was affecting players that did not use it. Emblem price rose to the point where doing it with a HH was the only way for it to be profitable. Thus, players were effectively locked out of content because of that item. That is not the same level as lab enchants, which they have addressed over time.

They "fixed" this by neutering the content and putting diminishing returns on the loot. Today, emblems are expensive due to supply and nobody does them for profit, which is the opposite of Blighted maps(just an example of content going core that's still profitable).

So, someone playing without HH can be affected by the former(priced out of content) or the latter(worthless content). Legion was the one example where we got to see the mistake happen in real time. What if they learned the lesson(the wrong way) and now carefully plan for HH each league? The outcome of emblem encounters is still shitty regardless of how lucrative they were before. So if HH is putting an artificial constraint on all encounters, it definitely affects all players.

I’m wondering if you have the mana to eat the 40% more on an essence worm then get an Aul’s uprising. Eventually you go lowlife and use up your life on auras. You could use spellslinger to build on shaper helms and/or shaper gloves to get conc effect and slower projectiles. Gem slots are becoming an issue though.

I could see wave of conviction on traps for debuff with a 6l wand attack or 4l attack that synergizes.

Need to figure out how to get conductivity into it plus a cwdt or some guard skill.

Build may be utter shit but this might get me to at least try it.
